Isn't anyone wondering how the Eagles D is gonna look next year? From what I hear Tesink and Piskacek won't be back. The returning guys would be Brodeur, Meilleur, Ward, Ellis, Macallef,.......Spencer MacDonald got traded to montreal....and they only drafted 2 defensemen at the 2009 draft. Saab and Herrick. Does that mean guys like Jean-Sebastien Fournier and Mathieu Boudreau have a shot at making the team they both had great years in junior a. And Jim Campbell too.?

You pretty much nailed it.
Ward, Brodeur, Meilleur, Ellis top 4.
Campbell and 2 younger rookies rounding out the group.
I don't see Micallef making the team. Expect Saab to be one of the 2 rookies.

does any one thing that Mathieu Boudreau has a chance to crack the line up? i seen him play a few games Junior A with Pictou Weeks Crushers and he logged about 30-35 minutes per game including power play and didnt look out of place one single bit for his first season playing with people much older then him

If Boudreau comes to camp and they give him an honest look I think he can make this team. Saab is a decent D but Mathieu is flat out better. He really came it his own In Pictou this year. Heard he had some school options , not sure how solid they were.

I agree if it's between those two, Boudreau would be better.

I saw Matthieu Boudreau play a few times last and he could off helped the Eagles then. He moves the puck well and is a great first passer. He matured playing JrA and he should help the Eagles this year. Too bad is brother is an overager.

What makes people think Campbell grades out much higher than Micallef when you really haven't seen the kid play yet ?

I think it's more the way the organisation has handled it... usually the team doesn't make a point to talk about free agents coming a few months in advance which would lead me to believe there's high hopes for the guy... hopefully he delivers.

What makes people think Campbell grades out much higher than Micallef when you really haven't seen the kid play yet ? The main reason is that Micallef was 18 last year and soent most of the 2nd half in the press box. If an 18yr old isn't good enough to play in the playoffs regularly then he you're not going to count on him to play a major role at 19. Whether it be that Campbell kid, or another free agent or draft pick, one of those last D spots will go to a newcomer....not Micallef, barring a minor miracle.

I agree with you on Boudreau, saw him play and he is ready and could slide into a 5 or 6 spot with CB if given an honest look. I know he has a brother but he wasn't much of a player, not even sure he still plays. Maybe you have him confused with someone else. Eagles also drafted saab who is a year youger than Boudreau. He will be his competition. Boudreau was the Stronger player of the two last year in the MJAHL.

What's the Watts kid up to ? He didn't want to come to camp last year so I doubt much has changed in a year other then the Eagles interest lowering on the kid as more recent draft picks are now on the radar.

What about the rumour last year (or the year before) about TJ Brennan going to Cape Breton? Will you possibly see that finally come true this year
