On Nestcape V I made a post about players previously not on the protected list that were going to be at camp. See that post here: www.nestcapev.proboards40.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1182985097 Now as a follow up, looking at the Q site today there are two more names on it... both from Ontario. First is 17 year old goalie Paul Dorsey. He's listed at 6'0, 190 pounds. Here are his stats from last season: www.pointstreak.com/prostats/playerpage.html?playerid=918885&seasonid=1333He was 29th in GAA and 25th in save percentage in the 10 team CJHL Jr. A league in Ontario as a 16 year old. We've also added 19 year old right winger Brandon Edge, who is listed at 5'11, 180 pounds. Edge had a tryout with the Ottawa 67's last year but missed it due to wrist surgery. He scored 5 goals & 15 assists in 31 regular season games, also notching 34 PIM with Nepean in the CJHL.

Ah, interesting stuff. I wonder if that's the same free agent goalie I had heard several rumours about the team bringing in all summer? Looks as though he only played six or so Jr A games last year though, so I'd be surprised if he was ready for the jump to major junior this season. As for Edge, if he's 19 they must feel he has a shot at making the team so he could be a guy to keep an eye on.

I'd like to get a hold of Edge's numbers as a 17 year old. You'd have to figure Ottawa saw something in the kid and I wonder if the Eagles brass think his numbers may have dipped last year due to the wrist injury. Although I looked at his playoff numbers and they were fairly similar.

Yet the action will probably take place this weekend- great to see the excitement being built! Mind you there isn't much to get excited about anymore when it comes to intrasquad............... the ban on fighting that they introduced last year (and that I assume will be in place again this year) was a terrible idea that totally killed the emotion and intensity that intrasquad play used to have. However, this year's camp should be more interesting than last year's because it's so much more wide open; many spots available, and lots of guys who could conceivably win those spots. Goaltending should be especially interesting to watch. Not like last year when a good majority of the team was decided before camp even started.

You know the excitment level is low, when the Deer leaves CB to cheer on Halifax!

You know the excitment level is low, when the Deer leaves CB to cheer on Halifax! It's a boomerang trade, Deer's there this year, then returns next year for our title run. However we currently will be getting the use of Fred the Moose for this year. Then next year we get Deer back, you get Freddy back then we swap first round picks. If Deer doesn't report next year we get the rights to La-La as well.

We'll have to wait and see if these 2 free agents work out as well as two of our previous free agents.
Dorsey is a big goalie and he might turn out like David Davenport and Edge's situation reminds me a bit about Paul McIlveen who turned out to be a very good acquisition.
As Eagles fans we can certainly hope that both players work out just as well or even better.
