Best intersquad schedule ever.... no morning games! ;D I do wonder though how the rosters will be handled. They make it sound as though the "black and white game" on Sunday will be something special. Obviously not everyone in both groups can play in every game. Will they play just rookies the first two games and then make some cuts? It seems like that would be a pretty quick reaction. Or perhaps they'll just alternate what veterans to sit out the first few games. Either way it seems like it's not going to be much time to make an impression for rookies. Here's some stuff I found about guys attending our camp: Michel Querry is from New Brunswick and played last season in the America East Hockey League League with Harrington College. I have NO idea what the quality of play is down there, but among the teammates of Querry was fellow Eagles FA Olivier Dame Malka. The head coach of the team? None other than Mario Richer. Malka won the defenseman of the year award for that league. An article I found states that he was cut from Lac-St. Louis MAAA in Quebec last year but also says he drew interest from major junior teams and NCAA teams following the season. Perhaps NCAA aspirations are what caused him to drop out of the draft? Here's the article: www.harringtoncollege.ca/icebergs/stories.html#dameDman Kyle Mariani, who I thought had a decent showing at last year's camp, put up 18 points and 53 PIM in Missassagua of the OPJHL last season. This is his 18 year old season. Jeff Amadio was drafted in the 8th round of the 2005 OHL draft by Windsor and attended their training camp last season, as seen here: www.windsorspitfires.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=-57&pos=14I can't find much on where the guy played last season.... he did play 7 games of Jr. B with the St. Catherine's Falcons, but I don't know if he missed the rest of the season or if he was playing in another league. Vincent Rolland is an 18 year old defenseman. He was actually drafted into the Q in 2006 by Val'dor in round 7. I actually found a post following the 2006 draft by LaLaLaprise on hfboards in which he described Rolland as a potential big time player who is a "leader on and off the ice" and plays a physical game. He played last year with Lachine Jr. AAA in Quebec. He put up 6 assists in 20 games and a big 64 PIM. He was -4 (although very few players on Lachine were in the +.) Not related to this year's Eagles team, but I saw that Louis Davino had 147 PIM last season, good for second on the Orangeville Crushers. Do you think he developed a williness to drop the gloves?

That's some great research there Pat. Very good job and very informative stuff.
I'm now especially interested in Dame-Malka and Rolland...... we are in dire need of younger defencemen and these guys sound as though they could be character guys to keep an eye on.

Patry was a very good invite to camp...passed over because hes miniature...plus his AAA team was putrid in terms of Draft Prospects...perhaps not many scouts got a chance to have multiple viewings of him.

Brandon Edge has left camp to preserve his NCAA eligibility according to the CB Post.
We're down to 17 forwards with 3 20yr olds and Sheppard's return up in the air. Not many more cuts to go up front.

Certainly disappointing news that Edge decided to leave. Many of us were optimistically hoping for another find like Paul McIlveen but Paul Mc didn't arrive until December or so 2 years ago.

I wonder if the Eagles tried to convince Edge to stay given the lack of forwards left.
Usually the team starts the season with 14 forwards and I think it's a safe bet James Sheppard will NOT be here in September. You'd have to figure that either Laberge or Gallant will be gone so aside from the one of those 2 that makes the team, you have 14 guys fighting for 13 spots. It wouldn't even surprise me if they ALL started the season here.
That being said about Edge, while I liked what he brought, I don't know if he proved enough to earn a spot on the team while he was here and even if he did make the team it may have been in a 4th line capacity which may be a waste with a 19 year old player on a non-contending team.
