Please stop advertising 3 times during the game that for every point that Desjardins get $ 21.00 goes to the Salvation Army, Desjardins is getting NO POINTS and the Salvation Army is getting NO MONEY and it is embarassing for the player, the charity and the fans. Desjardins is on pace to get 14 points for the season good for $ 294.00 to the S/A, big deal, my grandma gives $ 500.00 yearly and she has no points.

Yes his charitable gesture is "embarrassing" and shouldnt be recognized because he's struggled to put up better numbers.

I think his point is that by advertising it every game, they are placing pressure on Desjardins to perform, which may be negatively effecting his play.

Especially the red part. Just read it again while typing this, and actually laughed out loud again. Once again I'm sorry, but i'm bookmarking this page. That grandma quote is Signature worthy. As soon as I remove the Flames from there, thats going in!!

briwhel you got it, this pressure wasn't initiated by Desjardins, it was placed on him in the name of marketing and it has placed undue pressure on the young player trying to live up to high expectations at 17 yrs of age. A bad call that ranks up there with our team, our year and our 1907 team's this may be the best Moose team ever ( before the Marchand trade ).

Its a recognized player helping a good cause why shouldn't they make people aware of it!!!! You are right hfxfan09,,,,,,is a great cause and if it is only $290 the Salvation Army will put it too good use, if it is more all the better. I have loved watching Desjardins right from preseason last year. I know he is only 17, he works his butt off every night, but I am a little puzzled by his lack of points. One of my coworkers is quite involved in the Salvation Army and I told him about this when it was posted that a point a game production was in his reach this year. Its almost like he has to slow down a little bit and take that extra second, which the good players do. I think he is trying to force results rather then use his vision to make them happen. Any thought on this?

Hopefully he can get some of that chemistry going that he had with Bety and Bahm from the start of last season again- for the last little while he had been with Pelletier and Bernard and that is not going to help get him going.

Its the pressure, you can see his frustration with his hitting the ice after he goes offside or he fans on a shot etc, etc. He started on the top line but thru the pressure his lack of offense has put him with Pelletier & Bernard, he was with Gelinas & Lemieux to at one time. This charity event should have gone to a veteran who is better able to handle the situation period.

I think it is wonderful that the player is doing this and really even if he only does get 14 points it is money they would never have had once again Good to have a club that thinks community and also wants to serve the community too...

Exactly. If he is focused on the charity thing instead of playing the game, he shouldn't be in this league.
