Some thoughts since no one else has posted any:
- Good to see Benda toss a shutout in his period of play.
- Finn is going to be a good one. Brodeur might need to fill out a bit but I definitely think he'll play for this team, down the road if not this year.
- We got a taste of Lamontange's very physical play last night and I liked what I saw. What I wonder, though, is that when the play speeds up can he be that physical consistently during the season.
- I thought Sauve had a strong game, he'll definitely be in the mix for a roster spot. Still very unimpressed with Amadio.
- If only Desveaux was a bit bigger! This guy is a big time competitor but can't help but get pushed off the puck due to his size. I can't see him making the team, but if he added some size you never know.
- Fradette didn't play and I heard it was because he had a concussion. Not good for a guy who's best upside looks to be as a fighter!
- Gouchie looks okay and all, and responsible in his own end, but where is the offense we saw last training camp?
- Skills AREN'T lacking from Olivier Patry. He is playing on a line with Culligan but this kid is bringing a little bit of everything, offensively, to the table.
- I think Gervais is quietly having a strong stay at home camp thus far.
- Given the amount of spots open up front (more than on the blueline) I wonder if this team will seriously consider giving Kyle Mariani a look.... as a forward! He may be one of the top 5 skaters in camp, period. He usually gets back in position but I think he creates more chances than he prevents. I predict he's getting a long look and may crack the roster.
- Chouinard was not near the presence he was on opening night but still a decent game from him. The draft pick to watch last night was Lee Chuck Denny, strong in his own end, creating lots of chances and throwing the body around.
- Another great outing from Ceccanese. While he has some strong chemistry with MacDonald, MacDonald may be in tough to make the team- he's looked okay thus far but I don't know how he'll keep up as camp progresses.
