Is Sean Couturier from Atlantic Canada? Not really but he did play some minor hockey in Bathurst. His father is the GM of the Bathurst Titan.

We put up so little a fight that their goaltender got a shutout on home ice and didn't even get a star. That's how little we challenged them. Contender?? Buyer? Something 1 or 2 additions can fix? Ward is out a good 10 weeks. Let's be real here. I heard Mario say he might be back in late January. That's selling fans on a very low percentage best-case scenario that's very unlikely to happen. Realistically = he's back in late February, and given the nature of his two injuries, he might not be the 100% Michael Ward till the playoffs. It's an absolute shame, since Ward is one of the few guys in this league who's actually a throwback to the old school. A true competitor who cares about nothing but to win. A damned shame he's out pretty much the rest of the regular season, but as a guy who's won a President's Cup - he knows it's the playoffs that you're truly measured by. Anyway, I guess we really showed how that 10-2 win over Dru at home proved "what kind of team we really are" (practically a direct quote from the Post).... in the rematch, we put 18 shots on net and got shutout. Seems the 10-2 win was an abberation........ nothing more.

This is the frustrating thing about this team. 1 night they put up 7 goals against a very good defensive team in Victo, then they only manage 18 shots and get shut out by Drummondville, who aren't exactly the best team Defensively.

The most frustrating thing about this year is the endless excuses. This was a 2nd game in 2 nights not a 3rd in less than 3 days like in past years or a 4th in 5 nights!
If players can be excused because they are worn out from killing penalties the night before, or excused from being physical the night before ( 2 good hits ) then something is obviously wrong. We have not heard these concerns the last 5 seasons! Perhaps more players could be involved in the overall play and in the penalty kill and power play, or the shifts could be shorter or maybe the conditioning level could be improved.
I personally don't think the league is as strong as it was overall last year and I don't think the actual officiating is any worse than in the past so I have a hard time understanding the excuses that we seem to hear so often.
The way this team has been unpredictable this year usually playing much better on the road than at home, perhaps they will play inspired hockey with Luke and Olivier gone.
On the other hand, ...............

Mario is the excuse coach........he must have been late a lot for school as a boy...........give me a break the defence corps shot more than the forwards.......the forwards had 8 shots on goal..........poor guys 2 games in two days, what are they?? old people???..........when lance armstrong is cycling he cycles everyday for months as part of the conditioning process.........marathon runners run longer and longer to get better and better.........mario must have been the king of notes for the teacher!!!!!!!!!!
lets go out and buy some more excuses for the playoffs, hmmmmmm maybe there is a website hockeyexcuses.com

The amazing part of all this to me is nothing being done to fix these obvious coaching issues.
It's going to be a rough next few years in Eagle land if dumb and dumber are the ones making the decision that this team can actually win a championship right now.
It's mind blowing how the teams fans can see the painfully obvious while management is the one with rose colored glasses. Very scary, actually.

In a way I can see why team management might be looking at adding the right ingredients to give the Eagles a chance to go deep in the playoffs while still maintaining a decent fan base, they are lacking certaining in the high energy type player(s) as in past seasons and those can be added at minimal cost to support Luke, Roy, Ward, McNeill etc, etc when Ward returns your backend is alright but there can be improvements on moving some players out and replacing them with in your face products, in other words typical gritty, high energy Eagle hockey. The key for Mr MacDonald is getting back to this entertaining hockey while avoiding a Moosehead season(s) whereby you lose a third of your fans plus some corporate sponsors to rebuilding and remember the economical times are not that great to add to the Boards decision. its easy for the Jack's of the world to state what is right and what is wrong but their livelihood and job is not on the line plus jack does not have the financial facts to make a logical decision for the overall good. I happen to like the way that the Eagles have been very competitive and played very entertaining hockey for the last number of years and while this team hasn't measured up yet in the first third of this season a major overhaul either way is not required just a few missing parts of the puzzle need to be acquired for a minimal of costs. And I think Mr Mac & associates are looking at the BROAD fan base not the FEW who post on their board.
