Team Germany's first game in the Division 1A tournament is in progress as they have a 4-0 lead on Japan after one period...game started at 3pm Halifax time (8pm in France). Konrad has not made it on the scoresheet so far, but with this looking like a lopsided game already he may very well get a point today. Upcoming games for Germany: Tuesday Dec 15th VS Slovenia (9:30am Halifax time) Thursday Dec 17th VS Ukraine (3pm Halifax) Friday Dec 18th against the host team France (3pm Halifax) Sunday Dec 20th VS Denmark (11am Halifax) You can follow the tournament here (whenever a game is under way you can click "live" to get updates on that game) www.iihf.com/channels0910/wm20-ia

Germany defeats Japan by a score of 9-0 with shots 57-18 for Germany. Abeltshauser got 2 shots on goal and was +2 (hard to get a minus in a game like this LOL). Perhaps he got fairly limited ice time, not sure.

Let's try this again. Germany got a 6-2 win over Ukraine today, shots were 40-35 for Germany.
Turns out that Abeltshauser did NOT get a goal...he was originally credited with a goal, but that got revised and the goal was given to someone else...he DID however get an assist on that play.
Konrad was also originally credited with an assist on the second german goal, but that got revised as well. Perhaps with these lower level tournaments it's best to just wait for the official game summary to come out eh?

Earlier today (Dec 18th) Germany got their 4th win of the IIHF Division 1A tournament, this time edging the host team France by a score of 2-1. Shots were 40-16 in favour of Germany. Although Abeltshauser was limited to one shot on goal today, he remains at +8 for the tournament.
Germany's final game of the tournament will be on Sunday Dec 20th against Denmark (currently 3-0).

Congrats indeed! +9 in 5 games...not too shabby! Also, Konrad's 4 assists was the tournament best among defensemen.
So Germany gets the promotion and the host team France got relegated to division II for next year. Ironically, in the other tournament for division 1B is was also host team (Poland) getting relegated division II, with Norway getting the promotion for next year.
