Most didn't so why post them to show frustration. A captain doesn't do that Deer and you know it. Hey I liked Ward and we probably wouldn't have traded him if he was healthy. He really looked to relaxed on the ice most of the time and became victim to many jeers on the ice. Relaxed? If anything, the bad games Ward had were because he was tensed up and trying too hard, trying to do too much. As for the first part of your post, I honestly don't understand what you're trying to say. Most didn't what? A captain doesn't do what? Is there a word missing somewhere or am I just reading this wrong? Most didn't understand what he meant in what he had posted is what I meant

How did they know? You only had one of two options before the trade deadline because Saint John pulled themselves out early tipping their hat they were trading Dido and Grant. Moncton who was in first at the time would have been hard pressed to lose that position unless Cape Breton went on an insane run which we all knew wouldn't happen. So you finish 3rd and Riki who wasn't catching quebec because of their disaster start was pretty obvious a 3rd vs. 6th match up was pretty much in the cards. To be quite honest Moncton sealed their own fate on the last two days of the season by winning. IMO they finish fourth instead of third they get Cape Breton or they win and get Riki... Didn't Patrick Roy play a lowly Victoriaville last game of the season last year where they were up by 40 points in the standing only to lose 6-2. Man, seemed like they new what they were doing. If it was so obvious that a 3rd vs 6th was in the cards why didn't it happen? It was 2 vs 7 as Steve pointed out. I still want to know how the Cats were supposed to know Rimouski would be red hot too? To be honest I didn't think they were all that impressive anyway and if Joly had of provided the offence we thought he would it could have been a different story. Not like we were going to beat Shawinigan or Drummondville to win the league anyway so in the grand scheme of things it wasn't a big deal. Just so I know in advance is it already obvious who the winner of Mon/CB will face in the 2nd round this year? Got the seeds mixed up but the fact of the matter was Roy new if he lost he gets Cape Breton second round if he won he gets Riki. Which opponent would have you chosen on the last day of the season? I would say it will be either victoriaville or Rouyn who play the winner of Cape Breton/Moncton

In the end Drummondville won the league and neither of Moncton or Quebec were even in the Final so it didn't make much difference.

You are right but how much more money would have 5 games at home generated for you? For CB that would have been huge based on economics but to be quite honest with you, I agree not throwing games on purpose is something I agree with but if you ain't cheating you ain't trying is what LD said about the patriots who would have been a stronger advocate then Roy to do what he did. He did what was best for him, the team and the fans and that was to relax in the last game of the season to get a better match up and personally I don't blame him.

Well we have an owner named Irving here in Moncton so I don't think missing out on those home playoff dates set the franchise back too much Still would have been nice though I suppose since the Cats had to play 3 home playoff games at the 1,600 seat J.Louis Levesque.

That makes it sound like you're talking about on here. I thought you were referring to a quote in the paper or on the radio. "Most" = what? A few guys you talk to at the rink? I somehow doubt you polled the 3000 fans on a minor quote stuffed about 3/5 of the way through a Post article or in the middle of an intermission interview on the Eagle.

In all reality the guy has played like fifty games for the eagles and it is like posters are coming on here so upset we let a captain go. I liked Ward and felt he tried when he was here but it's not like he was the second coming of Christ. I hope he does well but people saying this was a bad trade and we shouldn't have traded him are nuts. What we gave up is what is nuts.

I hope he does well but people saying this was a bad trade and we shouldn't have traded him are nuts. What we gave up is what is nuts. Nobody said anyone was the second coming of Christ. I for one was just surprised the Eagles would ever trade anyone wearing the "C" again, after the 2004 Max Lessard fiasco. I know Ward wasn't a five-year veteran and longtime captain like Lessard. But in trading him, they still traded a guy who they'd specifically designated as a core leader........ which was too close to home for some fans who remember all too well the Lessard disaster. On the plus side to that trade, Legault's been a very solid addition so far and has given his line a brand new element of physical play.
