No upgrades to the defence which was downgraded.
Adding a 50 goal scorer for a kid in Gelinas who not only costs us Roy(next year) and picks/prospects to acquire but might actually be more useful to this team then Legace in terms of needs.
12 months ago we were told the prices were too high, we were building for the future. Well Mr. Durocher your future is now the present. You loaded up, left a gaping hole on the blueline and yet again we see a hockey team with many veteran players knowing they won't be back next year thanks to being trade bait including our #1 goaltender.
This is like a sad joke after last season. Prices were too high for a team with veteran leaders like Culligan, Slaney, and Haddad to contend yet 12 months later we're traded THREE 1st rounders, too many other picks to count, numerous prospects under the age of 18 and to top it all Roy and Meilleur are gone at the draft.
Expecting this team to win with that defence is an insult to every ticket paying customer who calls themselves an Eagles fan. I feel bad for the new guys, because there's zero chance they can live up to the expectations that are now placed on them.
And since I want to be clear on this, I remember back in 04-05 all the outcry that we could NOT sell vets after the playoff debacle because it'd kill the fan base. So is that back on for next year or are we officially in a Rimouski style feast/famine cycle?
Actually, nevermind that. I'll ask the new GM in June.

your first rounders likely come back if you ship Roy and Meilleur at the draft (for Roy anyhow).... just saying

Could be the 2nds we sent them for all we know. Either way we traded the value of the players next year for a hell of a lot less then it will be in 12 months. And the point either way is where was this last year when prices were too much even though we had a hell of a lot better hockey team in an EXTREMELY better position to contend.

All things being equal in hockey, usually the team with the best defence wins the game, at the end of the day.

I don't think you were in better position to contend last year at all... last year Drummondville and Shawinigan were way ahead of everyone else in the league
I know what you're saying... I just think you've got a far better shot at going on an extended run this year (if you can get past the first round opponent) than you had last year
Your goaltending is better... and your forward depth is far superior...
and I don't think the defense is as bad as you make it out to be
I do agree your an underdog to Moncton.... but I think you can beat them

Could we compete with Drum and Shaw if we added? Would of been great to find out but we packed it in without even giving it a shot. Now when we're in the spot SJ was in last year, 3rd in the division, we make the decision to trade just about anything useful we have except for Ellis to try and win now. Can we compete with SJ and Moncton? We'll find out quickly when the playoffs start. But i'd rather take my chances with Drum or Shaw in round 3 with an upgraded roster rather then go into Moncton or SJ that opening weekend with the team we have now. The fact Ward was moved and no even somewhat reliable top 4 guys were added really makes me wonder why type of wonderland the top people in this organization are living in. This D wasn't good enough to get it done last year, why are they good enough now without Ward? I'm not making the D out to be bad when compared to most Q teams but all that matters is Moncton and SJ and I can honestly say I would take ANY of Moncton's top 4 right now over any defenceman we can throw out there.

so you pound those top 4 D with your physical forwards and wear them down... and expose their 5th and 6th D
I think Moncton gets way too overrated on these boards..... yes they have loaded up and look to be the team to beat now on paper..... but the game isn't won on paper... and who knows how all these new additions will fit in chemistry wise...... they've also been quite injury prone this year as well... if that continues who knows?
you can't change what your team has decided to do you can either support it or condemn it.. I guess if I were you (or a Moncton fan or even a SJ fan) I'd be happy knowing my team is built to contend now... it's going to be a hell of a playoff for whomever survives the Q this year.... at least you have a shot
the time to condemn these moves if they backfire is at the draft next June

Did any of them play last night? Big forwards, sure. But they're not very physical. Hell if we can wear down Moncton's D with our forwards i'm scared to see what their forwards are going to do to our D. I think the Saulniers alone could wear out Brodeur.

Maybe the idea is for Lagace/Adam to score 2 goals a piece each night, hope to get another 2 from our secondary scoring, giving us a total of 6 goals scored per game. Then, it won't matter if we have sloppy D/goaltending and give up 4.

Legace isn't going to put CB in a contending position IMO. Better off keeping Gelinas and trying to win a couple of rounds. However most of the damage was done before this trade.
I'm still baffled at the cost Durocher paid for Legault and Dion. What is he thinking?

Not done yet, just sent a 6th in 2011 to PEI for Derek Larade (1992)

So, is there a place where I can see the draft picks that we have for 2010/2011?
