Sorry if this has been discussed in another thread, but just wondering why the Eagles released Holden? Was'nt he only 19? Which means he was not taking up a 20 spot, seems like he should have stuck around, especially with the playoffs coming up, you would want a capable back-up.

I think the general consensus is that they want Veronneau to be the starter next year and so they wanted him to get some action this year. Doesn't make sense to me if we want to make a run for it now to have an inexperienced backup.

That is kind of what I was thinking also, the Eagles are defintely in the upper echelon of teams in the Q. Thanks for the info.

On paper and on the ice this team is a solid 6th-7th overall....I don't call that upper echelon, especially with the lack of leadership and chemistry we're seeing as they're 2 key elements to winning that this team never had (in my opinion)

Doesn't make sense to me if we want to make a run for it now to have an inexperienced backup. there has to be more to the story than that if they wanted veronneau to be the starter next year then he should have been on the team this year from the start and Holden dealt to a team, there had to be trade value for the guy back then also there is nothing stopping veronneau from being the starter next year by keeping Holden as your backup now......I think Holden must have been unhappy with his role and requested a move... the only scenario that makes sense

Your right Bois...Holden did ask for a trade. If Roy got injured you would see Holden called up.

ok - so he's still our property? That's better than what it looks like (ie by him being in Jr A)

The trade involved was between the Junior A teams for his rights, he remains Eagles property in the Q, correct?
Is it as simple as requesting his return if we need him? It seems like the perfect scenario for both him and Roy to be playing at whatever level in the event of an injury to Roy. As opposed to Holden sitting for three weeks at a time between starts.
It seems to me that Holden should be working on his offensive game in Junior A based on our team's performance last night. He does pass the puck well.

He cleared waivers so he is still our property. His jr. A rights were traded.

I think Holden is on their Protected list and could come back in case of injury...
