Culligan popped another one last night, I think either the game tying or game winner!

Actually Culli's goal was UNB's first which got them going after being down 2-0.

Many fans don't realize that UNB had some major losses from last year's team. They lost 3 defencemen including their top 2 and they lost 2 players off their number 1 forward line.
Gardiner MacDougall did a great recruiting job bringing in 8 very good 1st year recruits. UNB has such good depth this year that they have kept winning despite injuries and suspensions. Most games they play 4 lines and seem to wear the opposition down as the game goes on.
Culli has certainly had a good year so far to say the least. He worked his way up to the #1 line during exhibition play and has played their ever since. He plays on the 1st unit power play with his 2 linemates John Scott Dixon and Hunter Tremblay and is also used in the top 2 penalty killing units usually with John Scott Dixon but also with Hunter Tremblay. As a team they have killed off just over 91% of their penalties so far this season while the power play has clicked at 27.5%. That special team play makes them very difficult to beat.
While it may not be a surprise for Culli to be playing well, it is a great accomplishment to be playing as the 1st line center on the undefeated, #1 team in Canada. Gardiner MacDougall has said several times that he expected Culli to be a very good player at the University level but that Chris has exceeded their hopes and expectations at both ends of the ice.
Let's hope this season has a happy ending for several former Eagles.
