Was wondering what others thought about the direction the Moose are heading for goaltending. The team appears interested in contending in 2011-12, at which time Corbeil would be a 20 yr-old. Is this a smart move (gamble), or will they draft a goalie at this coming draft?

I would think that one of the #2 picks would be a goalie (who would back-up Delmas) and with the other early picks being offensive forwards.

I would think Corbeil could fetch a decent return in a trade at the draft, and if Delmas continues to play well for the remainder of the year, I think Cam will go that route.

Back as a rookie?

They could keep Corbeil, add another 20 year old, and then look at dealing Corbeil at Xmas when the prices increase, rather than moving him at the draft for less.

I think Russell was trying to do a buy low, sell high with Delmas as he needed somebody adequate to split time with Theriault-Corbeil.

Agree with Murph BUT I would keep both goalies and start the season with them .If the trades offers came for one of them at Christmas and if the trade was a good one I would make it too..Moose have enough goalies in their system to finish the season...Next year.... If for some reason we need a goalie for 2011-2012 season we still can use a draft pick and trade for one too...

They'll both be here for the rest of this season and next; as a Moose fan I'm finally glad that we have 2 goalies to rely on!!!!

What are the odds of Delmas being back next season?
He'll be 20, and he's drafted. If he has a good end to the season, I'd guess Colorado will sign him. After that, it's a toss-up as to whether he comes back to the Q or not, right?
Also, if he is back as a 20, he can be traded at any time next season. For a pretty good return, I'd wager...at least better than a 6th.
But given his hip injury, I'd say his odds of playing in the Q next year are a little better than the average drafted overager (Hoffman and Petersen don't count, as their NHL teams didn't have to sign or pass on him this summer like COL will have to do with Delmas).
Either way, good pick-up by your GM. He really seems to have a plan for his moves this season. First the best draft year for the Moose since I've followed the Q, and then a few solid "buy low" moves at the deadline...Delmas and MacDonald are the obvious ones, but I'm sure there are others...

Like you said last night chances of Delmas being back are higher then normal beacuse after the surgery his NHL team may think a year in Junior would be a good rehab. Then you make the call at Christmas next year, if it looks like Corbeil will be back a as 20 and he looks as good as I think he can be then you trade Delmas. If not them Cam will have to make a call based on where the team is in the standings. Good problem to have me thinks.

Delmas wasnt even having that bad of a season, his save% was above .900 and he has a messed up hip.
Colorado picked him 61st overall, they believe in his talent, so if they feel surgery will fix his issue I wouldnt be surprised if they signed him.

He'll be back in the Q and Halifax as a 20; good for his development and Colorado is quite solid in goal with Budaij!!!!
