Lets not forget the Euro draft. Can't base a sucessful franchise on Dartmouth Subways alone. But than again Rimouski kinda did with Crosby and that worked out pretty well. Anyway with our track record of Euro's this could be the big make or break choice on the sucess of our next run. Considering we currently have 3 Alumni in the 2010 Olympics that are Euros. We also have afew very established NHL players who are European. With Voracek, Nagy, and even now Knotek our Euro playes at times seem to be the glue that holds the scoring together. Our Euros truly help to keep the strong Mooseheads organization. Not to say the NA playes are not important as well. I am just trying to say the 3rd overall Euro could be our most important move this year.
I think Latvian players Zemgus Girgenson, Nikita Jeupalous, and Ruchard Kondrats could be very wise choices for the upcoming draft.

Canucklehead, well did some research on Zemgus Girgenson he seems to be really looked upon for the 2012 NHL draft, as for the other 2 (I must admit) just found them as their names kept popping up when i searched Zemgus. Picked the last 2 by association. Personally Russian and Czech scare me off with the higher risk of them going to the KHL or just not coming.

How can u forget Sergei Klyazmin who played a season and half before that bad injury which killed his career, Sergei played 111 games with us scoring 57 goals with 65 assists and a total of 122 pts and a great character kid.

we sure need to solidly pick right in both the 'Q' draft as well as the euro draft also I think as importantly we have to assess the talent returning at seasons end. One important area is goaltending and it is my opinion that for Matt's sake as well as the team's that we both go forward without each other, it is something that didn't workout (except for a couple of weeks earlier) for either Matt or the Moose, the choices is to have Delmas back (after successful surgery this summer) or trade for an established guy and draft a quality prospect with one of our second round picks. It looks like our defence still needs some tweakin, I like Lala's pick of Burke or Gamelin and I hope we can get another offensive player in the 2nd round. Bernard is a big question mark along with Wiggington. I have other thoughts but for now I would enjoy other fans opinions on what they would do in the next season.

The top 2 euro talents Adam Larsson (1992-late) and Magnus Svensson-Pajarvvi (1991)...i dont see either coming over to NA.
You have 3 pretty highly touted Russians, and its always tough getting them to come over.
Vladimir Tarasenko is a late 91, he played on Russia's U20 team and has actually said he wants to stay in the KHL indefinitely...so that doesnt bode well for NHL teams, let alone CHL teams.
You have Evgeni Kuzentsov who is a 1992, also played on Russia's U20 team, dont think he wants to come over.
A Russian kid who has a chance of going 1st overall in 2012 is Nail Yakupov, he is a dynamic offensive player.
I think Halifax will target a 17 year old forward...there are a few I think are attainable at #3 overall, plus have interest in coming over...in no particular order:
Victor Rask, C, 1993, hes a swede, plays for Leksands, he is 6'01 200, he is a prototypical power forward, probably a 1st rd pick in 2011
Joel Armia, W, 1993, plays for Assat in Finland, he is a dynamic offensive player, more of a shooter and is 6'02 170, like Rask he will probably be a 1st rd pick in 2011
Mika Zibanejad, C, 1993, plays for Djurgardens in Sweden, like Rask and Armia he will be a contender for a 1st rd pick in 2011, he is eevrything youd want in a forward, he is smart, slick, good in his own end, a difference maker, he is 6'00 180
Tobias Rieder, C, 1993, he plays for Landshut in Germany, he played with Abeltshauser at the U20 and had 6 pts in 5 games, a speedy offensive centre, he is 5'10 176
Marek Tvrdon, W, 1993, he plays for Nitra in Slovakia, he is a smart playmaking winger, he has good size, 6'02 186, tends to slow the game down
Denis Hudec, W, 1993, playing for Sparta in Czech but he is Slovakian, he has good size, 6'01 176, an all-around offensive type of winger, nothing that tends to stand out but solid in every area.
Miikka Salomaki, C, 1993, plays for Karpat in Finland, he is a great skater with above average vision, not dynamic but plays a simple type of game, he is 6'00 190
Martin Frk, W, 1993, plays for Karlovy in Czech, he is a late 1993, so he isnt NHL eligible until 2012, he is an explosive offensive weapon, a sharp shooter who scored at over a goal per game (26 in 22 games) as a 15 year old on the U17 team last year, he is 5'11 192
I think Rask is the guy Halifax wants...some of the other guys I mentioned above will likely be picked between picks 5 and 25...so they arent necessarily worth the 3rd overall pick but if Halifax likes one of them quite a bit they may flip picks or just take that player 3rd.

Just a question, but what incentive is there for top-end Swedish players to come over? Their junior league is scouted, and playing there certainly doesn't seem to hurt their NHL draft rating, given last year's first round...
Maybe that's just my perception, I don't know. And we all know money talks, so if you spend, I'm sure you'll get your guy...

Thats why you dont see as many swedes coming over...they get good icetime in a good league...unlike the Czech's and Slovaks.
Its always tough to get the Swedes and Finns to come over but there have been a few in recent memory.

A darkhorse if you are willing to shell out the bucks might be Mikhael Grigorenko (2012 eligible)
