Are you sure Halifax won the coin flip last year? The Q league shows them having the 2nd pick. Val d'or picked first Oh really? I could be wrong than... VDO Had a coin flip against itself last year essentially... They did and then despite the fact that it was coin flip against themselves they still talked about how it was a great day for the Foreurs to win the toss ;D

It will be interesting to see if we win or not, but in the grand scheme of things, I don't think it matters a whole lot. We're going to be getting a good player regardless. True....either way a good player, but id rather have the 1st overall pick...gives you more options.. If a team picking 3rd or 4th overall really covets a kid they think will go 1st or 2nd...than they may flip picks and Halifax can pick up an extra 2nd rounder... This would be especially useful if say Halifax wanted a kid they believe they could get at 4th or 5th overall. I have no idea who Halifax is high on, but it seems as though the top 2 guys are dmen, in my opinion, so if Halifax really wants a forward they may look at trading down. But like I said, im not sure who Halifax is keying on, whether thats Poulin or Matheson on D, or a kid like Ciampini, Gamelin or Hudon, who they could get beteween 4th-6th Ya true, never thought of all the scenarios that could play out with having the #1 pick. If we do get it, I wouldnt at all be surprised to see Cam waive it out there for a trade. As long we stay in the top 4-5 and he knows the player he wants is still going be available. I have a gut feeling Cam will have some surprises up his sleeve for the draft. He showed last year he was afraid to pull the trigger on trades, so with us having more picks, more options this year, I think he'll be trying to work other GMs.

if you guys want Duffy so bad I'm sure we'd listen for the number one (or even two) overall pick

Halifax is 2 for 2 in coin flips...so they are due for a coin-flip loss...going 3 for 3 in coin flips, the probability of that happening is 12.5% Doesnt matter what happened previously, it is still a 50% chance this time around

According to the Herald today the winner of the Midget draft lottery pick picks 6th overall in the Euro draft. I'm assuming that was said in error or has something changed?

Lala, how do you compare the talent in the first couple of rounds in this year's midget draft compared to last? I saw you said there are some pretty good individual talents in the upcoming first round but just to compare to a group of kids we've seen for a year now?

According to the Herald today the winner of the Midget draft lottery pick picks 6th overall in the Euro draft. I'm assuming that was said in error or has something changed? I thought it might have been in error, but I checked the last 2 drafts of the Q and Euro. In 2008, Drummondville and Moncton finshed !8th and 17th respectively. Moncton had the 1st pick and Drummondville chose 2nd. In the 2008 Euro draft, Drummondville chose 2nd overall ahead of Moncton at 5th. In 2009, Halifax and Val d'Or finished 18th and 17th respectively. Val d'Or drafted 1st with its own pick, and Halifax's pick which had been traded to Val d'Or was sent to Shawinigan by Val d'Or. In the 2009 Euro draft Saint John drafted 1st with Halifax's pick. So it looks like the two drafts are reversed.

Well if that is indeed the case then lets hope we lose the toss so we pick 2nd overall in the Q draft and 3rd overall in the Euro- I don't think the dropoff from #1 to #2 in the Q draft could be as bad as the dropoff from 3rd to 6th in the Euro draft... but I could be wrong, hopefully Cam may already have his Euro in mind and it wouldn't matter at #3 or #6.

Just got a message from the Halifax Mooseheads via FB that Palov was mistaken, the Mooseheads will pick 3rd overall in the Euro draft regardless of the coin flip.

No, that actually makes sense. 2008: Drummondville finished last, but Moncton won the coin toss for the 1st overall Q draft pick. Drummondville, as the last place team, had the better Import pick. 2009: Halifax finished last, but VD won the coin toss for the 1st overall Q draft pick. Halifax, as the last place team, had the better Import pick. The Import draft picks were based entirely on the standings. It just so happened that the 2nd last place team won the coin tosses for the 1st overall Q draft pick.

The winner of the coin toss is for the Q league midget draft. The Euro draft is CHL and based purely on standings.
