According to Moose twitter Desjardins is playing for the under 18 team next month in Belarus. Great to see him named to the team after a strong finish to the year.

Great for the kid to put on the Maple Leaf, it shows he is on the radar.
I was disapointed the way he started the year, I figured he was good for 40+ points this year. Just took him a little longer to get going then I thought, he was fun to watch the last part of the year. Another reason to look forward to next year.

Yeah it's interesting how that can happen... he looked like 40 points would have been automatic. Suddenly we're looking at the end of November and the team has just gone though an unimaginably horrible start and with only 7 points in his first 26 games Desjardins is looking like he'd be lucky to match his rookie season. But the season goes on his speed seems to return and he starts picking up points. There were also times late in the year where putting Desjardins versus a struggling Grant on the first line seemed to be a good bet for offense.
7 points in his first 26 games was a thing of the past and he finished the season 7 goals and 15 points in his last 16 games... a tremendous finish.

According to the IIHF web site, Gab Desjardins was named Canada's player of the game in Canada's 5-1 win over Latvia, that assured Canada would remain in the A pool. The IIHF doesn't show game summaries, but from newspaper accounts, he wasn't any of the goal scorers for Canada, so he must have had a number of assists and played a strong all-round game.

Desjardins in 6 games has yet to score, but has 3A. The only other Q player, Michael Bournival from Shawinigan has 2G 1A in 6 games.
Also of interest, Viktor Rask, who's name has been mentioned as a possible candidate for our 3rd overall euro pick, has 3G 2A in 5 games.
