James resigned for one year at 803 k . Is this a "Make or Break " Season for the Big Fella ? He certainly was given an opportunity last year and did not seize the moment . Stay Tuned . I wish him Luck and hope he has success .

I could end up being proven wrong, but I don't think success comes for Sheppard until he gets out of Minnesota. He quite simply smacks of a guy who needs a trade - like fellow first rounders Guillaume Latendresse and Benoit Pouliot before him.

I think its a combination of him being rushed into the NHL and, as deer mentioned, being in Minnesota. He has been given LOTS of time to mature/progress/etc. I would give him until Christmas and if he's not producing, deal him.

Shep was the victim of Jacques Lemaire's huge ego. Lemaire felt that no one could teach James as much about the game as he could. Unfortunately, there's more to the game than playing DEFENSE.
In my opinion, he should have come back to the Eagles for 1 more season where he had a chance to develop his skills "completely" while facing the other team's top checking unit every night.
I also would like to see him get a fresh start with another organization!

If you put Sheppard in a place like Boston, Detroit or Chicago and gave him a chance to play with good players he could really strive in an offensive system.

I think that everyone can agree that he needs to get out of Minnesota and start off fresh. He was defiently not ready for the NHL in 07-08 and would have been far better for his personal development if he spent that season in the AHL or even another year here at the Nest.

The Majority of the Fans in Minnesota would like to see him dealt away . I'm gonna say Wild Management give him one more year to remind them why he was a First Rounder...........9th Overall .......I think he is gonna be OK !
