It's a little very odd that there was no arrangement with Frk. They had a lot of time to talk with Walsh to make sure something was in place. Maybe this is just Cam talking it up so everyone is relieved and excited when they announce he has commited to coming. I'd be shocked if they just blew the 1st Q Euro pick on a guy who wasn't 99% sure to come.

So why not just come out and say what the obstacle is? Surely they didn't draft him without speaking to his agent. Cam makes it sound like they heard good things about him, so they took their chances and now will have to convince him to come. A good management team does the convincing ahead of time, especially when you have a high pick, and can almost guarantee he will be available. So either (A) Cam is just doing this for suspense, or (B) He has been sitting on his hands for almost a month instead of talking with Agents, trying to get a commitment from a Euro. I believe it's A.

A Czech poster on HFboards mentioned that Frk resigned a contract a few weeks ago with his club and is playing this season overseas. Plans to come to Halifax for the 11-12 season.
Take it for what it's worth.

And this management has basically got every one of these type of guys to show up over the last year... his agent is Knotek's agent so of course they have talked. I think they are trying not to make it look like they have prior agreements with all of their picks and it's also to build up talk and news for the team. Positive momentum in making the picks, the players reporting, in the news and image... it is all good for the team.

This is what I think too, but with Euros there can be complications, like the scenario elementz mentioned. Hopefully this is not the case.

With Pavlov mentioning "minor contract issues" I'm thinking Russell is quite aware of all the situation details and they either have solutions or are not anything more than a speedbump.

As with any Euro, there is risk involved in getting the player to report all the way up until the player actually steps onto the ice at training camp. Just the nature of these things. So I won't be completely satisfied until I see a Moosehead jersey with the name Frk appear on CHP ice in August.
That being said, I am fairly confident he'll show up. If not, that's a huge egg laid on Cam's behalf. But with the organization's success with Czech players, and with Allan Walsh representing him, I'm optimistic it'll all work out. With all the time the team had to line this pick up and get their homework done, I doubt the team would take the kid on a whim, or a chance. The pick was too valuable to waste away on a player who "might" show. I think this is just Cam playing it up a bit. Good on him for it though.
Man, am I ever looking forward to this season now though. Should be fun. There's still some growing pains to be had, but like someone else posted, at least there is some light at the end of the tunnel now.

Well you're going to be distraught when you don't see Frk on the back of any jersey at CHP, but I guess that goes for any name.. ;D

The thing that like going into next year is that sure we look young but the team is starting to look a lot more entertaining as well. Ashley and Frk should help make the team a bit more interesting up offensively... Ciampini is a young talent I look forward to seeing.
We have a lot of 2nd year players that hopefully we see some good improvement from including almost all of the D and what was a fun to watch line in Gelinas-Andrews-Lemieux.
Solid goaltending should help turn some of those 1 goals losses around from last year.

You'll have to wait til the season starts to see that jersey. Oh also, anyone else think Frk will wear #20? Seems to be reserved for Czech players

The PP could be lethal this year. We were quite respectable last year with virtually nobody outside of Grant and Knotek being legitimate offensive threats. Guys like Andrews, Gelinas, Desjardins should all be more comfortable making plays on the PP. Plus Konrad, Clarke, Gillard on the backend should all benefit from the minutes played last year. And add to that all the new guys in Ashley, Frk, Ciampini, also Boudreau will full time this year, definitely some tools to work with. Yes, still young, but the skill level is exciting.
