"Delmas is just a great guy for Corbeil to practice with and it’s a great opportunity for Corbeil just to see how hard Delmas works and competes on ice and off ice," said Russell.”How hard you have to work to try to make it to the next level."
It's a sentiment that Corbeil shares. "He's been through NHL camps, definitely has experience. He's a great guy, teaches me a lot. Even by what he does, just the way he acts, you can see that he's been through a lot."Huh? Isn`t it the goalie coach and only the goalie coach`s job to teach these guys??? Someone has argued that recently

Be nice Joe.......nah....Good One!!!!!
Was a well written article. We were frustrated as fans last year but sometimes you forget what the players are feeling. I think Corbeil's comments point towards how hard it is to play for a loosing team. I like Delmas but I hope Corbeil gets a chance to play before a better Halifax team this year.

Dont ask me, ask Corbeil, who even used the exact words "teaches me alot". If you dont think one goalie can pick up tips and learn from watching another experienced goalie play, then you need to stop preaching about how important it is/was for Price to have had a "mentor", since the goalie coach should be teaching him everything he needs to know. Do you think your backup goalies learned absolutely nothing from watching Riopel play? Did they block out everything he was doing and only do things the goalie coach talked about?

A veteran goalie can show a younger one the right work ethic and rewards of said work ethic, but the technical side is the reason for having a goalie coach. You are confusing leadership with coaching.

Lets just leave it that you think a younger goalie will not learn anything technically from watching and being around an older, experienced goalie.

You are confusing leadership with coaching. No one's disputing that they shouldn't have a goalie coach. But some people are visual learners and can learn a thing or two by watching someone else do it. They can better learn technical skills by watching somebody else perform it in game situations as opposed to a goalie coach only teaching it in practice.

When the veteren is in nets, the rookie turns his head and doesnt watch or learn anything from their play. why learn in a game when you have a goalie coach for practice?

I play in the beer leagues and our other goalie and myself still share tips with each other. But then again...it's the beer leagues.

Obviously Crazy Joe and Carey disagree.....this little spat is between them. ;D Personally, any rookie ( goalie or other ) benefits from watching and seeing how the vets handle themselves on and off the ice. Just my opinion.

Maybe we should wait for you to point out where it was said that Delmas working hard will make the rookie a better technical goalie. I still can't believe that you're trying to make an argument out of that post.
