I assumed Lala was a scout or something already. An average fan usually does not know that much about upcoming players. Were does he find the resources to learn about these up and comers.

Glad to have Gerard Shaw on our side now after several seasons as a bird dog for Lewiston. He's a real passionate guy who I can only imagine adding to the Eagles. As for the MacKenzie rumour, wow - this is the first I've heard of this. Years ago, in the heat of the CB-Halifax rivalry, I'd never in a million years have wanted MacKenzie behind our bench - simply because of the fierce rivalry.... he was the coach of the enemy, and that was that. In fact I was delighted when a 5-0 Moosehead loss at home to our Eagles was the final nail in MacKenzie's coffin when he was fired midseason in 2004-2005. Five years later though, a lot has changed. The rivalry between the two teams is completely in the toilet, and it's tempered ill feelings between the two teams. What was once unthinkable, now doesn't sound like such a bad idea. The fact remains right now that the Eagles are in team in need of getting back their identity as an overachieving, gritty team that will outwork anyone else in the league. That's EXACTLY the kind of way Shawn MacKenzie coaches, that's exactly the kind of teams he produced. Like Pascal Vincent, he was lauded as a head coach for being able to get the most out of average players - but criticized for not always being able to best handle stars. As an assistant coach though, I don't think that negative would be an issue - it's the head coach that manages stars (not that I'm saying Mario is the guy to do that, Luke Adam was allowed to do whatever he wanted last year). I'd welcome MacKenzie into our fold - maybe he'd help the Eagles get back to basics, and bring a bit of experience and stability behind a bench that's in sore need of it. Deer I was kinda hoping that Halifax would take the role of the "overachieving, gritty team that will outwork anyone else in the league." And Droucher does know how to handle stars, make a run for it only have to deal with them for a year, and either they will graduate to next level or you trade them away.

If you wouldn't take those 4 jobs, then doubt Mackenzie would take the assistant role!!!!!!!!!

He is a scout already - employed by a Q team for a few years now. I was just saying it'd be cool if CB stole him away one day!

Mackenzie just built a new home on the outskirts of Bedford, his wife has a big job and he is currently making more money than the Eagles could afford to pay him, so I wouldn't hold my breath hoping to see him back in the 'Q' in the immediate future, your best bet be might be Fabian then again I doubt if the Eagles would match his associated coach salary from Irving. My knowledge tells me that there is a great difference between financial compensation amongst the various organizations in regards to coachs, G/Ms and the combined positions.

The assistant is so important especially when a team has a Head Coach / GM. And if history repeats itself the assistant will be the next head coach, so a past history of head coaching and managing should be important.
