I thought I'd start a game thread for our first pre-season game tonight; so that those that may be going to Saint John or listening on the radio can give recaps for those of us who can't listen tonight Go Moose Go! I wonder who's starting for us if its Corbs, Deller or one of the rookies?

Moose lose 4-1. According to the Q site, shots were 22-19 in favor of Saint John. It also says we out hit them 25-10. Delmas gave up 3 on 14 shots while Terenzio gave up 1 on 8. Gelinas scored our only goal. No fights.
Hopefully some Saint John fans will give a recap of how some of our guys looked.

I liked that Ciampini and Ashley didn't play. Means we're all but guarenteed to see them in game action tomorrow.

Notes from the game.
Hannay- Gooned it up a little bit, other then that played some good D. Wigginton had the most chances. Randall- Good with the puck, liked his play Matt Boudreau- Lots of hard work and speed from him. He is a long shot or a good chance to make it? Squires- Needs to stay out of the box or keep his stick on the ice Dimitruk- Is he trying to be a tough guy this year? Very aggressive and yappy. Gelinas, nice little snap shot in front of the net to score Didnt notice anyone else aha.
Goalies- Delmas...horrible...cut aha Terenzio- Moves quicky, not alot of big chances on him, would like to see more. Took one of his mask.

Boudreau was a pick from last year who was sent back to midget, he will make the team probably as a 3rd-4th liner this year.

good to hear, I liked him He was first or second in Quebec MAAA scoring last year and could centre the 3rd line. He'll make the team. Looks like the Moose played a more physical game. Were they hitting lots? I'm guessing Warner was looking for a fight?

Like canbeer said, he was a pick last year (3rd round) and was a top point getter in AAA. Skilled, playmaker. Will play bottom 6 this year, but projects to be a top 6 player at 18-19. I guess Dimitruk is trying to do everything and anything to make an impression. Don't remember seeing too much of the rough stuff from him last year. IMO he's the first overager to go. We've got depth on defence, and he doesn't really do anything that great. He's mobile, but he doesn't have the shot, puck skills or hockey sense to benefit from that mobility. Some might say the same about Amyot, but I think in the end they'll just end up releasing Dimitruk. Plus Amyot's game improved a lot in the later parts of last season, so I think he's got a better chance to have a good year then Dimitruk. Dimitruk didn't cost us much, so not a big loss. We gave him a chance, he did his best, was serviceable for us last year, but I think that's as far as it goes. The way Bety has played so far, I think he's got an edge up on one of the 20's. Looks like he got faster in the off season...great speed. I wouldn't have always said this, but I'm starting to be a believer that he's got more offense in him then what he's shown (or given an opportunity to show) in the past. With some PP time, he could produce.

With some PP time, he could produce. Bety had 13 goals last year... and a big fat 0 of them were on the PP. 13 even strength goals was tied for 2nd best on the team with Grant. He did ok last year with no PP time, works as hard as anyone, plays physical, strong defensively. The Moose have already lost Knotek who was their number 1 centre and if they lost Bety too they would likely be forced to move Randell to centre. He'd be a great leader for a young team. Downside obviously being if he's here and especially if Frk shows up the battles being discussed between Davis, Warner, Souligny and McGuigan may be pointless if there's no spots left.
