Halifax dressed a young team. No 20s. Only 19 yo. 3 16s. Everyone else was 17/18 (obviously). Eagles dressed what could almost be their opening night line up (with the expection the Euro/Fournier/Leduc replacing 3 of our D).
Eagles turned in a solid effort, imo. MacDougall and Horyl had huge games.
Horyl left the game in the 2nd and didn't return. Anyone have any update on that?

I do agree with MacDougall and Horyl having solid games. Veronneau look bad. He should have stopped 2 if not 3 of the five goals the Moose scored. There was way to many odd man rushes given up and breakaways for that matter. All I can say is it is going to be one long season ahead.

Anything on Moose players? I know it's hard to make note of opponents in pre-season, but anyone with anything?

I missed the game against PEI, and given it was pretty much a full lineup for CB (minus Hrabrenka) this was the best chance to see what we're store for this year. And in a lot of ways it was kind of ugly.
Obviously the Eagles won the game, and it was entertaining with so much scoring (although very sloppy) but there were plenty of signs of concern. Veronneau likely just had an off-game; he certainly wasn't getting any help from the D. It's not a coincidence that most of Halifax's goals came unassisted... I lost count of the point blank chances they had in the slot after a turnover behind the net. The breakout has been a weakness of CB teams even in years where we've iced a strong team, this year it seems even more so.
It's also a bit discouraging how all the offense came from the vets. (Although it was nice to see some great give and go between MacDougal & Horyl as they will obviously be given plenty of time as linemates this season.)
I would have liked to have seen Mario use the young guys in more key situations- didn't like having all vets out there on a 5 on 3 penalty kill.
One encouraging thing that I saw was the level of chippiness on the part of both teams- the CB/Halifax rivalry could be back back next year, or at least better than it was. While CB is expected to be bad, I don't think we'll be as bad as Halifax the last 2 years and I certainly don't think Halifax will be near as strong as CB of the last few years. Both teams should have something to prove- CB will be looking to silence the critics who have them pegged as last, and Halifax is looking to move up in the standings after a few rough years- I can see the teams taking it out on each other, and it could be fun to watch.
