Bad Break For Shepp
Minnesota Wild center James Sheppard was in an ATV accident on Monday while training in Vail, Colo., and sustained a serious knee injury which will sideline him for up to four months, according to a report in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Wild coach Todd Richards told the Tribune that the injury was to Richards' kneecap, and the 22-year-old player has already had surgery.
The Wild had re-signed Sheppard to a one-year contract in June. He had two goals and four assists in 64 games for the Wild last season. He has 11 goals and 38 assists in 224 games over his three seasons spent in the NHL, all with the Wild.

Sorry to hear, the guy can't buy a break lately. Hopefully in a few years he's laughing about all of this while enjoying a successful NHL career, but I still think he needs to get out of Minnesota for that to happen.

He probably has it in his contract not to be doing stuff like this. He may have a larger issue which is monetary. I know the Canucks will not have to pay Salo because of his floor hockey debacle. I saw a few of these contracts before and they are pretty tight.

He's done... will likely have to sign an AHL deal or play overseas next year.. this year was a make or break it year for him.... and i agree about the potential of that to be against his contract tho we don't know the details... was he messing around on said ATV or just a victim of someone elses poor driving?

As much as things don't exactly look good now, he's only 22.... "done" is likely a bit premature. Agree though that this may have been the worst possible year of his pro career for something like this to happen.
