Already underway.
Thought the Eagles played a pretty decent game last night. Hopefully they do it again tonight.
3-1 for Saint John at the moment.

6-1 now. Not the best outing for Veronneau (i think first 3 shots went in). Saint John is also playing without Anthony, Depres, Thomas, and Galiev.
I guess most of us would have been happy if you said we would get a split from the first 2 games.

Like I said, early this morning:
"Tonight's game may very well put a different perspective on things all over again but we have to remember that it's just the beginning of the season. Some teams really seem to mature and develop over the course of the season, especially in terms of the younger players and others seem to keep repeating the same bad habits. Hopefully, the Eagles this year will fall into the former group!"

Ouch, although I'm sure we'll take it on the chin a few times this year with such a young team. Which is fine as long as we have a hard-working, enjoyable team to watch - which certainly looked to be the case in the TV broadcast from Halifax.
Hindsight is 20/20, but Mario said on the pregame show his goalie would be a last-minute decision. We allowed 7 goals on 25 shots tonight.... I wonder if those numbers are just a little better if the starting goalie knew well in advance he was the guy and had a bit more time to prepare?
Another thing, and I may be way off base on this because I'm not even sure if this info is correct..... but I thought I heard the team bussed from Halifax to Saint John today as opposed to last night. If I'm wrong, my apologies... but if not, maybe bussing on game day wasn't such a good idea? I remember a game years ago when the shoe was on the other foot.... SJ bussed all the way to Sydney on the day of the game, gave up 63 shots and lost 7-1. It's still the Eagles' record for most shots in a regular season game. Then-SJ GM Tipper Leblanc admitted in the papers the next day it was a mistake and said it wouldn't happen again.
I didn't hear tonight's broadcast - who did start in net anyway?
The thumping is no big deal though, that's expected from time to time with a raw team. Long as the guys played hard is all that matters. And one positive to take is that for the second straight night, the Eagles answered their first goal against with a goal of their own less than a minute later. Looking forward to seeing this team on home ice.

Thanks for posting that. On the first two goals, Verroneau is way too deep in his net - completely inside the blue paint of his crease. When a goalie is on his game.... in the zone... he's out at the top of the crease and beyond to challenge. Kirkpatrick had about three or four corners he could have put that shot on the first goal. It's not a knock against Verroneau, just a sign he wasn't on his game. Probably didn't help that he didn't know until the last minute that he was starting. That's a bit nerve-wracking when you're up against one of the most potent offences in the league. Some sick puck movement on that 6th Dogs goal! The tic-tac-toe finished off by Jurco. Man he's a slick player, what a set of hands - he should really break out this year with more ice time and a bigger offensive role. And a year older and wiser - last year you could see he had all the tools, but had some bad habits to shake like trying to dangle everyone, and skating with his head down. I remember one game last year he tried rushing the entire length of the ice with his head down, and Michael Ward absolutely pulverized him! But if he's shaken any bad habits and gets more chances on the PP and such, Jurco could put up big #s this year.

veronneau was definitely off his game, he couldnt even handle a simple dump in without making it look extremely complicated.

I don't recall seeing Metcalfe back at all either after blocking the Morin shot ... Wasn't putting any weight on it at all when he left.

i made the trek down to SJ from Fredericton as i normally do for eagles game . i want the money i wasted on the fuel to get there . When Cuzner and MacIntosh are your 2 top players it is going to be a long year, and that is not a knock against them. I think Ellis left for Montreal a day early . The give away on the 1st or 2nd goal was unbelievable. He's supposed to be our best . and Verroneau whether he gets the nod 90 seconds to game time or a week to game time 3 goals on 3 shots (weak shots)i might add,is unacceptable .I know its early and hopefully this won't be the norm all year . Heres to better games ahead

Hope the guy is alright, be a shame to have a lengthy injury this early into the season, especially to one of your 20's and one of your A's as well
