I think thats more goals then Nazem Kadri this Pre Season Kadri had two last night as well. Now there's a player I'm far from sold on as a top-end prospect.

In his first preseason game, Luke had some nerves, understandably. Since then, his play has been quite good. Other than a little mix up on the Habs second goal tonight, he's looked great on the ice for us.
and I'll give Luke a free pass on that second habs goal because... well I'm impressed that he was actually in the defensive zone ;D

Scoring two goals in an NHL preseason game is nothing to sneeze at - pretty impressive feat. His first goal was nothing fancy, but he sure made Ryan O'Byrne look stupid - completely picking his pocket behind the net and then stuffing home the wraparound. His second goal was a goal scorer's snipe - an NHL shot that we saw on display several times at C200 last year.
But let's not get ahead of ourselves - Luke IMO is still a ways away from being an NHL player. His skating has a way to go, still stands out as the worst on the ice on pretty much any given shift from that game. And based on his individual, immature play from last year - he probably needs a year or two to grow up before being ready for the big time. But we saw in the World Juniors what he can do when his head isn't inflated by being "the big cheese" on his team - he'll probably get there eventually.

I know how Luke plays, and I've been the one on the Sabres boards trying to give people a dose of reality about Luke's game. He will work on endurance and he will work on skating, or Dineen will bench him in Portland, it's as simple as that. The AHL will do a world of good for Luke's game, and I have been impressed with Luke's effort up until now, especially with his back-checking, which used to be non-existent.
