1. I think drafting Shaw that high was a terrible choice. Definitely would have been available in the 2nd, 3rd or maybe even the 4th.
2. I think Logan had a decent rookie season, but, then again, I recall him playing with Slaney alot, which helped his offence.
3. I don't think he has progressed very well, however, I don't think we should write him off yet. He's still "young".
4. Seems to look alot stronger to me this year. Maybe give him a few more games and hopefully he starts to produce.

I think a lot of times Doyle was unfairly criticized on PEI.
Doyle is a tough example to cite because there were many times along the way that he was fairly criticized.
But, I think that Islanders had less patience with him because he was from PEI.
But, through all the criticism he took he was a player who put up 36 points in an injury shortened 16 y/o season, 63 points as a 17 y/o, 72 points as an 18 y/o and 33 points in 34 games as a 19 y/o prior to his trade.
He put up decent numbers, but some of the inefficiencies and lesser developed areas in his game drew the ire of many fans and caused him to be harshly criticized by times on PEI.

Home town boy or not isn't the issue.

But, I think that Islanders had less patience with him because he was from PEI. Hometown players have more pressure but I don't think people had more patience because he was from PEI. Doyle's issue was that the potential was there for so much more and it was his attitude and lack of work ethic that held him back. The normal hope is that a player taken in the first round will be the future top player for your team but when that doesn't happen fans are disappointed. Its especially unfortunately when a player is taken by a team much higher than the "general concensus" and it doesn't work out, as to me that's not the kids fault.
