Obviously the former Eagle most on our minds today is Ondrej Pavelec, with everyone hoping nothing too serious is going on after he collapsed in Atlanta's game against Washington last night. But on the plus side, several ex-Eagles had big nights last night in the Q. In fact, in the seven other games around the league, three had former Eagles nabbing the first star. The biggest performance was from Nicholas Chouinard - FOUR goals for Montreal in Halifax. I saw the fourth one, it actually looked like Philippe Lefebvre's goal to me, but they gave it to Chouinard - incredible night any way you slice it. I'm pretty sure Chouinard had a five-goal night last year too. Olivier Malka had a big night in Lewiston, scoring 2 goals and an assist in the MAINEiacs' 7-2 win over Victo. Malka was first star in that one. And Olivier Roy had his best performance to date as a Bathurst Titan, stopping 29/31 shots in a 5-2 win at Gatineau and being named first star. Also, Max LeSieur had a goal for Shawinigan in their loss at Rimouski. And Port Morien boy Jarred Struthers broke a 2-2 tie in the third period of that game, scoring shorthanded for the Oceanic and breaking the game open in favour of the home side. With our 20-year-old situation the way it is right now, we can't help but think the hometown boy would have been a nice pickup for the Eagles. Big night for a lot of guys that once wore the black and gold.

As I watched Chouinard score his 3rd goal last night, I thought "wow, I really wouldn't mind having him as a 20 year old this season". I almost made this exact same thread myself, but, the more I thought about it, the more upset I became and decided to crack a beer instead.
