Almost identical records.
Could go either way.
Assume Veronneau gets the start tonight as Lacerte had the last 2.

This 1 point road trip cannot be a surprise at all. The Eagles have had a really tough schedule with 2 mid week games on the road in the last 2 weeks which basically reduce quality practice that week and are physically draining for young players, especially. Road wins against any other division opponent in the Q are not easy considering the officiating and the amount of travel. In addition, the team went on the trip missing 3 of their top 6 forwards.
While it gives the younger forwards extra and even quality ice time to help them develop it also makes it much more difficult for the Eagles to appear to be a very respectable and promising team for next season. Right now Lacerte gives the team a better chance of possibly winning but if he plays 2 of every 3 or 3 of every 4 that doesn't really help Veronneau develop or help the team decide if Veronneau is really the goalie of the future.
One fan in the CB Post comments was very honest in his appraisal of the situation this week.

This years Eagles are putrid. They are indeed young overall, and perhaps again in a few years will be competitive, but for now, it looks like they all better have strong morale fiber, because they're in for one heck of a long year, as are us fans, who oddly enough are being courted to get behind a Memorial Cup drive. What a funny time to try and chase down hosting this coveted tourney....not when the team was solid, but now...when the team is gonna take a lot of lumps. Eagles brass,... please respect fans, and their intelligence. It would be great to see the Memorial cup here locally, but it would be a heck of a lot better if the home team actually earned a spot, or were competitive.
