LeaskIsMyHero, an outburst on the bench is no indication that the player is really trying as Eagle fans know from last year. Hard consistent 2 way hockey is a true indication the player is trying.
I only got involved in this because I found the updates about Luke very annoying based on what I watched as an Eagle fan last year. I repeat one last time that I have never questioned Luke's skill level but he wouldn't make a top 50 of my Favorite All Time Eagle players.
I couldn't agree more with Jack Bauer. Give us all the updates you want on the many players who were proud to be Screaming Eagles and showed it through their play on the ice!

Sorry. My comment was more a generalized statement really. I wasn't in CB for the year you had Luke Adam so I have no idea in what context his "outbursts" would have been. I more meant how there is a rather large group of people who think that a player should never be seen banging his stick or cursing or shouting in anger/frustration/any-negative-way. I disagree with that. I'd rather see some displays of emotion from players than no signs of it. The typical robotic behavior of some players often makes me wonder if they give a damn out there.

The fact that he made the first team all-star takes care of his attitude for me. From what I heard he didn't want to be in Montreal too. I have met Luke's father a couple of times and I have a friend that knows him too. If he's anything like his Dad he has no attitude either. Not to be an ass, but so what if it takes care of it for you? You're not an Eagle fan and being from NFLD I doubt you're a Buffalo Sabres fan so clearly as a Newfoundland Luke Adam fan you're a fan of his attitude because it's irrelevant to you because all that you care about is the boxscore and stats by the guys name. And this isn't ripping into the guy, I've said little to nothing negatively about Luke Adam because he was a fine hockey player and we had many other issues with that team but as an Eagle fan I have no issue with those who expected more because our team was judged by its results on the ice, not Luke Adam's box score off of it, and his leadership was one of our downfalls against Moncton where his boxscore looked fine after 5 games but looked like pure shit after 3.....which was all that mattered to our team. But I will add that the constant updates on his progress are rather annoying, especially since it's done by a Buffalo fan and there's pretty much zero info on some of the alumni that were actually proud to wear our sweater. Like one poster said don't read but the Buffalo fan and I will continue to post them for the people who do. You must be forgetting that Luke began his QMJHL career here and I saw him play for two years. Not once did I ever see anything from him that made me think that he was a Me First player and still don't. Given the fact that your team will probably occupy the Maritime basement for the rest of this season I am sure that the fans of Cape Breton would love to have him back to score a few goals for them this year too.

qmjhlfan, if you never saw anything in two years he must have changed after he left Nfld because we saw quite a few performances.
There were several games where Luke threw hissy fits which only let the other teams know that they could throw him off his game.
In game 3 of the playoffs with the score tied 1-1, after he was knocked down in the Moncton slot area he laid on the ice begging for a penalty while Moncton went down ice. It took 4 scoring chances before they finally scored just as Luke skated to the Eagles bench, uninjured. The Eagles lost that game in OT.
After finally doing something in game 4, he was quoted in the paper as "Wanting to step it up for the boys". I like many other fans, was very disappointed that he didn't want to step it up back in game 1 of the series. Even if scoring opportunities were hard to come by against a strong Moncton D, every player can help his team by backchecking, instead of lying on the ice.
It's too bad Luke never got to play here in Cape Breton under the leadership of several of our very good captains who were proud to wear the Eagles Jersey because he could have learned a lot from them in terms of hard work and attitude which would have only improved his overall hockey skills.
You also have to understand that Luke's presence contributed to the team's decision to buy last year and Go For It, which made little sense because of the team's inconsistent play. The Eagles ransomed the future to acquire the top scorer in the Q at the time, to play with Luke and we got 1 goal from him the rest of the season.

well I am from Buffalo and I am a Sabres fan but its not as if I have never watched a QMJHL game.. I have been to St John's, Montreal, Gatineau and used to watch every game I could online... so being called the Sabres fan kind of annoys me.. I've been a Luke Adam fan since he was an undrafted Fog Devil scoring on Olivier Roy, for my first live Q game in St John's.. and I'm sorry, but I've never been too big on the Screaming Eagles, so Luke, Legault and Lagace are the only three I can actually give you regular updates on. edit: funnily enough, I went to Troy, NY earlier this month to see the UNB @ RPI game... it was awesome to see Corcoran, MacNeil, Clendenning, and Culligan on the ice again, good stuff, that team is STACKED. Clendenning and Culligan scored for UNB, who won 4-1. I got my foggies jersey signed after the game by Nicky layton... so that was a great night

Luke was never a two way player in the Q. I was stunned when I saw him backcheck in training camp this year. Luke slamming his stick and slamming the bench door is him showing he's trying. Luke tries to score goals, no matter what. I'm not arguing whether or not you guys should put him top 50 in your favorites. Everyone on the Sabres boards won't listen to me about how Luke has been as a player for his Q career, some of them have already mentally check listed a rookie of the year award for Luke in the AHL. I know he's not mature yet, I know he had his selfish moments, and I'm sorry it annoys you that I'm updating you about Luke. Luke has had a great start in the AHL, and he's saying all the right things about taking it a game at a time, so I'm hoping the AHL matures him.

Another goal and three assists and the third star of the game award for him in Portland's 4-2 win over Springfield tonight.

I wish Luke Adam well in his pro hockey career, but I'm glad I don't have to watch him play for the Eagles this year! His kind of play is not the kind of hockey I like to watch, and the fact that he is doing so well in pro just goes to show that he did not give the eagles 100%! I enjoy watching players who give 100% every shift,

Luke scored the lone goal for Portland yesterday in a 4-1 loss to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.. he is currently 3rd in the AHL in scoring with 4g and 5a in 5 games.
edit: he is the only rookie in the top 20 for scoring in the AHL.
