From Matthew Wuest's Blog:
Mooseheads make final cut MATTHEW WUEST (THE Q FILES) The Daily News
The Halifax Mooseheads made their final cut on Sunday, sending 16-year-old goaltender Mathieu Corbeil-Theriault back to his Montreal-area midget team.
Theriault's departure leaves 24 players with the Mooseheads, including the injured Stephen Lund, out indefinitely with a concussion.
So according to him this is the last cut so our team is set. We will see who may or may not come back from their NHL training camps.

That's 25 players is it not?
9 Dmen is too many. I'd expect a cut still to come there... just may not be for a while with Lund injured.

Yes that is 25, I guess Matthew Wuest can't count, yes 9 dmen is too many, especially once Lund is healthy again.

I see the reason to have Goyens but I'm not too sure I'm crazy about it.
With Lund injured it's a good chance for MacAskill, Pender and O'Connor to play 95%+ (Greer may/may not get some games in) of the games for the first month or two and get the playing time they need... each of them could show some good improvement this year or let the Moose know they need a upgrade a D. Goyens seems to make things a little less clear.

Its a win/win...if he plays well than great, if not they can let him go.

How has Bona been so far?
Seen him in the last game here on PEI, but overall how has he been?

I agree about it being win/win in terms of him costing nothing and maybe he'll play well (I seem to remember him being beat easy with speed to the outside... though I may be mixing him up with Tesink)... but it's not really win/win if he's just taking time away from the younger guys and isn't likely to be part of the team come January. It was like Rodi Short last year who didn't cost anything and played pretty well but ultimately wasn't part of the team and took time from MacAskill, Pender and O'Connor... 3 guys that they should be developing and/or giving them time to improve their trade worth. Maybe I just have to see Goyens in a few games but still I'm just not crazy about it when I think that he's taking time from someone.

Im sure if MacAskill and Lund are outplaying Goyens they will make a move by cutting Goyens. That being said, Lund is out for a while...so really theres only 8 dmen on the roster as of now...one being a very raw 16 year old who likely wont play very much early on.

How has Bona been so far? Seen him in the last game here on PEI, but overall how has he been? Big, steady, physical and strong defensively. Even though the Moose have some size on the blueline with Pender and Monast as well, Bona brings something a bit different with his defensive side and will be a solid second pairing. One thing so far this preseason is that he's also been getting a lot of shots to the net... and he has a heavy shot. The one thing I really like about Bona is that he plays the big body game (minus the tough side) but with solid skating and smart play he takes very few penalties. For example, in last year's playoffs he played a mean, physical game along the boards but only took 2 minors in 11 games.
