Jeff Robichaud just twitted that he will not be returning to do the Wildcats broadcast.

Took the news pretty hard caught him totally by surprise. Just sucks they have to change the radio guy every 2 or 3 years. IMO Rogers radio and or the Wildcats making a huge mistake. I know he will bounce back and make them look like fools for letting him go

From what I understood when the job was posted a few years ago, Rogers is solely responsible for the hiring of that position.
Funny thing is that people were saying they didn't have a lot of candidates to chose from because it's a job that requires a lot of time and travelling and such and now someone who seemed to be doing fine at the job gets let go after 2 seasons.
I'm really not sure what Rogers is thinking. I can't comment on how Jeff's play by play skills are as I have heard very little of it but he seemed to be better than Les Stoodley was and during the post game shows he seemed to have some overall Q knowledge. It will be interesting to see who will replace him.

from what i gathered from the position is that Rogers will pick the person they see fit for the job and then from there the Wildcats would give the yes or no on the candidate.
it is lots of time and dedication for very little pay and that is why i was surprised they let him go he loved what he did and basically bled Wildcats colours.
This is the second time he gets the short end of the stick from calling a good hockey teams season and he was working with a Hockey Hall of Fame broadcaster and you could see the difference from 1 season to the next. I mean if a guy who has 3500 + games in the NHL tells him he is ready for the next level wouldnt one think that maybe he should still get another year of junior? again just my opinion

You don't have to hide Jeff. We're all friends here. You're still welcome here even if you're no longer working the games. Only people who should hide their identity on here in my opinion is mods.

I know Jeff reads these boards, and hopefully he takes this as constructive criticism.
His play by play skillz have grown tremendously over the last couple of years. As far as calling the play; he does a fine job.
Now; where IMO he is lacking is the professional aspect of calling the game. Many times I've turned on the game or listened to the "post game show" and it sounded more like Romper Room with sound effects and mindless banter.
To add to this was his railing against the Q and its referees, drinking the conspiracy Kool-Aid. Jeff IMO was unable to detach himself as a fan from the Wildcats while calling the game. I'm not saying it's necessarily a bad thing - this gave him some passion towards calling the game.
He's made some very curious comments over the past year on air; criticizing the hand that feeds him in the process.
In my opinion it was a culmination of some of these on air events that led to his dismissal.
I am not saying that broadcasters are not allowed to provide their opinion, but do so tactfully.

It's a coincidence. Give your head a shake. No need to get all upset. I provided some facts for the public. They can make their own assumptions. Why is being from NS so important? So important that you posted it and he tweeted it. What is so important that you met through hockey that you had to post it and he had to tweet it? I don't care if you're Jeff or if you're his friend and you met him on e-harmony. It was clear to me that you were too close to the situation so I did a little investigation. Is it a coincidence? Maybe but the only thing ironic here is you calling us idiots.

I didn't mind his calling of the game ... I felt he did a good job and allowed me to follow the game. But it was after the whistles and in his post game show where I found he came across as quite arrogant and unprofessional ... and frankly he became annoying. I'm sure he is a nice guy in person ... but on the air I began to dislike him ... and apparently Rogers (and/or the Wildcats) did also. One other annoying tidbit ... he'd have a guest on the post game show or a pre-recorded interview between periods ... and he'd ask a question that would take him 2 mins to spit out. he basically would answer the question for the guest and they'd answer yes or no because he had already answered for them. I got tired of listening to his interviews because the guest didn't have much to say ... and he had too much to say.

Thanks for the job you did on the road this year ... I think we all appreciate it as it is not an easy task. Good luck with your next venture. I like Springsteen.

He was better the longer the season went on but like Batman said there was a lot of bias calling in there although to be fair most hometown announcers are the same.
At least he got the names right though unlike Moore!
Half the time though I never knew what the hell him and Frank were talking about!
It's great for fans though that have an announcer travel to the road games for those that don't understand French.
I saw Springsteen last week in Manchester.

Then don't have your "buddy" come on the forum saying how News 91.9 and the Wildcats made a mistake... If you're going to publicly denounce a move; be prepared to receive public feedback.
