I call it shrewd. My best player is 18. My goalie is a back-up. I have some high-end young talent. Other teams are loading up. I'm not Cape Breton. I know what my best option is. I have a great core for next season and it makes sense to enhance that if I can rather than chase a futile goal. Didn't the start of Saint John's run come from a similar decision? ;D Very true I suppose. Sticking with Q comparisons, my team of a few big name under achievers currently has me in 13th place. The year is young mind you, but I've currently done...nothing, roster movement wise. Perhaps I am going to pull a Serge Savard and do nothing. Not going to buy. Not going to sell. Not going to make the playoffs and if I do sneak in, not making it out of round one. ;D Well with the set-up of my team I wasn't looking to make any big moves for this year and was probably a notch below the better teams. I kinda drafted young anyway. But I made a good late (ish) round pick with Culkin and traded him for what I think is a very good return. Culkin is a Calgary prospect so may not return at 20 and I like the assets moving him got me. This is junior hockey. you need to decide if you sell or buy. I'm a full on seller because I believe I can be full on legit contender next year if I get value for my better players who won't be back. That's the basis of the decision I made.

Update...Currie is still available but Jaskin has been added to the trade block. One of the best Euros in the league. Don't all jump on him at once but I'm open to offers.

Another great night for Beaudry with 3 points. Not satisfied with your underachieving 20 year old? example of a trade i'd accept is underachieving 20 and a 1st round pick for Beaudry and my 3rd round pick or Underachieving 20 and a 2nd round pick for Beaudry and my 4th round pick.

If any of the top teams are looking for a dman that might put them over the top, Girard is your man. He now has 17 points, after last nights game, and among the top dmen in this pool. Gotta love those penalty minutes. I'd be interested in taking your worst dman from you, to keep the rosters even, and a 1st round pick. If you have any offers, let me know.

I had a deal with a 1st involved already, and let it slide....maybe I'm better at negotiating.. ;D.......I'm not even against keeping him for next year, as he will always put up points. a 2 year dman who will put up points should be worth something

I'm not surprised at all......he plays on the 1st pp unit in Bathurst, and we all know that he is good for about 150 PIM's per season, which will easily make him a ppg dman. PIM's was the reason I picked him. he is also a 2 year player so that helps also.

Only 5 guys got that last year and all were guys who regularly fight (10+ range + Clarke) He could be very similar to Gabriel Bourret although I'd expect Bourret to put up more points (offensive pts) but Girard's being 19 v 20 will be to his advantage.

I'll entertain offers for Robin Gusse and Francois Beauvillier, if anyone's looking to win now. I'm not really looking for anything specific, but make an offer, and we can go from there.
If anyone is looking to move an existing 20 to pick up another one in a separate deal, I'll listen to offers to do that favour as well, and save a FA move for someone.
I might be willing to offer up FA moves in trade too. I'll make a FA move as requested by another GM who might be close to the limit, and then trade the player I picked up to that GM. I'll have to get clarification from BB on legality of roster moves before attempting this.
Don't try to low-ball too badly. I'm perfectly willing to keep my roster as it is for now.

He is on pace for 159 PIM's right now, and he is tied with Hynes for offensive points. Not doing too badly for me.

Nothing stops you from adding a free agent, and flipping him to another team, but you'll have to drop a player to make room for your add.

There's actually a Free Agent I want but I'm wondering if it's worth it since I couldn't protect him anyway although if I get a good trade for a number of vets would likely pick them up and then judge at the end who my best 5 are.

I'm looking to make upgrades at any position... I already have plenty of decent parts to offer and will at least listen to any offer though obviously certain players are less likely to be dealt than others (Dea, Saulnier and Trainor topping that list). And Porkchop... had I seen your offer in time, I would've made an offer for Girard that you probably would've liked. Serves me right for going on vacation.
