I've really only been paying attention to the local news four about five years. I can't imagine pedestrians getting hit in a crosswalk is new. I'm going to assume the media has only recently decided to report on each incident. Fair assumption?

No ... 3 in 3 days ... or 4 in 4 days (whatever the count is now) is a little abnormal so it becomes newsworthy. But the media reports on every pedestrian collision but they are typically spread out to 3 or 4 a month.

is it still 5 points for hitting one? Only 2 if they are in a crosswalk......it's 5 for a jaywalker.

Would a guy jumping on a stopped vehicle still be classed as hitting a pedestrian? lol

Some People downtown make me so mad, wonder why they get hit because half of them still insist on crossing the street when it's still red.(I'm anal about waiting for the walk sign) (I work at Northwood I see it every morning almost, and people wonder why they get hit.)

But even if there has been consecutive days of pedestrians hit at crosswalks, I don't recall in the five years I've been reading the local news (except for 2013) where similar headlines were in the news. I think in the past, the press simply didn't bother. People being hit in cross walks can't be new only 2013.

Always have been ... sometimes they are small stories ... sometimes larger ... but they are all there ... at least for the last 16 years.
