The only spot we have really is the 20 year old. If I were a free agent, and I had more options then just Moncton, I would go else where. You probabally have a better shot at making it.

I don't disagree but even if the team is pretty much complete, they always bring in 10-12 FA's to have a look at, even if most are local...

I know Shannon was quoted in the paper as saying he wanted a certain amount of players at every position to be in camp and he wouldn't invite the full amount of free agents if the number wouldn't be right. The only number I can remember though is that he wants 8 goalies, so 2 more goalies than are listed now. But yeah I thought they would have more up by now.

Honestly, after he was drafted kid gets a deal at Dexter Prep then Boston College we will never see this kid. This definitely affects our D core, besides Malatesta who are we adding because as a whole the group was average at best!

And here comes the downfall of drafting Americans with your top picks.

Thought he was pretty much a lock to come to camp? Being a 4th round pick that definitely hurts quite a bit. Stuff happens though...might see him at some point down the road.

Especially since he was quoted in the AcadieNouvelle after the draft as saying he was coming to Moncton. And a month ago Shannon was quoted as saying seven of the eight were for sure coming to camp this year (seems obvious that it was Krys that wouldn't come to camp). I guess the kid probably changed his mind when he got the offer from BC which was likely only recently. Since he will be missing the start of camp with the 5 nations tournament I doubt he even bothers to show up at all.

Didn't Shannon said MacLeod was coming as well? It looks like he's announcing these players too fast.

Didn't Shannon said MacLeod was coming as well? It looks like he's announcing these players too fast. No, not really. He said that they were working on him and thought there was like 50% percent chance or something for MacLeod. He didn't really announce any of these players as showing up specifically and hasn't said much about any of them other than saying 7 of the 8 will show up to the acadie nouvelle. But he said right after that he didn't want to talk specifically about any players because it could cause problems with their commitments etc. These comments all came after he had done his tour around the us after the draft to talk and confirm their attendance (obviously had conversations before the draft about them reporting as well). I'm willing to bet that McInnis was planning on coming until he got his BC offer and then changed his mind. I don't think that it's Shannon's fault for assuming the player will attend when he has likely repeatedly told him that they would. Obviously kids change their minds sometimes and the only thing that I think Shannon could have done differently would be to have not drafted him but you never know, he may change his mind again and end up in Moncton somewhere down the line. I also don't think he thought many of the 16 year olds would actually make the team this year anyway. I think I read somewhere (maybe hockey scene) that he said he it was more likely the older kids drafted would make the team as opposed the younger ones (obviously you don't know if that true since you haven't seen training camp etc to prove this).

Just an interesting note that I found. I don't know if it was posted but Noah Corson played 3 games in the Midget AAA league in Quebec and scored in his 1st game and put up 2 points in 3 games. It will be interesting to see what he turns out to be in a year. He should play this year in QMAAA. His father is 6'2" and he is 5'7" according to elite prospects. So I would expect a big growth spurt this year. www.liguemidgetaaa.ca/joueur.php?sp_no=1309

Jonathan MacLeod had dinner with RKI for a second time this past week. Obviously still weighing his options... Being drafted by Tampa Bay was probably one of the best case scenerios for us.
