O'Leary would be on a scale close to Earne. From things I heard he's a game changer. Maybe not as a 16yo but he is a guy who would have went top 5 if he didn't sign with the Big Red. Plus they get a first round for him anyway so it would cost that plus. My thing is though I'm not for giving up out forts next year. We haven't had a first rounder in how many years now. I'm also not for giving up Murphy yet or at all this year. If we trade Nik this year then I'm fine with trading Murphy at trade deadline. So in saying that who do we have to trade for him? Can you clarify that? If you're referring to getting a first round pick if they trade him, they changed that rule. Even if they didn't, hes not a top-5 pick so I think that pick drops to the second round. Only way the compensation pick gets added is if the eagles release him back into the draft. Either way, going after O'Leary this season is poor asset managment IMO. Like you said, it would cost our first + for sure. We don't have deep enough cupboards to pay up right now. What I meant by he gets a first round anyways is he gets the 19th pick if they go compensation route. I don't know if the league will make that the last pick of the first round or the first pick of the second round. I should have said he gets them the 19th pick which is a very good pick. Now as for asset management on the matter what it comes down to is how good is he and how much of an impact can he make. If Cam feels he's better then what we can get next year you make the trade. Our first rounder next year I think is going to be in the 8 to 12 area. So is he going to be better then any player in that range next year. Or where they can get the 19 pick maybe we can keep our first and give up Our 2 seconds rounders next year.

Just realizing Cape Breton has a glut of quality overagers. If Darcy comes back (which is likely) that means one of Farrell or Legare become available, 35 and 34 goals respectively last season. If Hache is back that means 2 are on the market. I like Jessie Lussier and all, but, either of them would be a pretty decent upgrade if we were able to pull one down cheap-ish at camp.

Brian MacDougall is quite interesting. Put up very similar numbers to Morgan Nauss in the same league, he's also bigger and is a right-handed shot. But obviously is a year older.

Now that the NHL Draft is over and we know where Elhers ended up, I feel a lot more comfortable knowing where he should end up. I thought he would be back with the moose regardless where he got picked but you never know right. When you look at the Jets and there track record they usually send back their first rounders. Then you look at there depth chart they can tak there time with Elhers. They have players like Lipon, Petan(who is basically the same player as Elhers) that will be competing for the same spot as Elhers.
At first I was slightly worried he might make it and play with Scheifele. I think those 2 will click really well down the road. Then when I seen they have Petan as well I can wait to see those 3 playing together. Might be a little small but it would be some skillful and fast.
I think because they have Petan there too mean we might luck out and have Nik for 2 more years. They are very similar style players and if you have Petan might as well let Elhers play and domanate an extra year. Knowing this I really hope Cam looks at 15-16 as a go for it year and makes the smart moves this year

Tyler Copeland, 1996 birthday (18 years Q age), played Major Midget in New Brunswick. Not a bad sized player, 6'0 180 lbs... Played with Logan Saunders who we've also invited. Numbers are good in the tournament, Vito's didn't go far tho, I think the NB/PEI major midget league is a bit weaker. He also consistently seems to have about 2 PIM per game. Not sure if a good or bad thing.

Now that the Euro draft is all done and the other teams have those holes filled I really think that Halifax should start selling player. PEI if both players show become the team to beat in this division. Those 2 players sured up there top 9. The moves they made for there defence has that stronger too. They are young over all but very skilled group.
CB is strong too. If Darcy comes back both them and PEI will Duke it out for top spot. If he doesn't come back they still have a strong team. I think they need 1 veteran defensemen. Someone like a Graves, Murphy, Gosselin or Labbe. Someone to fill the Hole Hache will leave behind. That is with or with out Darcy.
SJ look better too. The 2 Euros help them plus everyone's a year older they should make the playoffs this year.
Moncton hadn't really changed any so I'm not expecting them to do all that better then they did this year. I actually think them and Halifax will be fighting for the 3rd and 4th in the division.
Halifax do have pieces to be a team that you can say is a push over but that's it. We need help and we just don't have the resources to get the help needed. So I say sell Zach Now. Sell Gadoury after he plays a few games with Elhers and has his stock go up some more. By that time other teams will know what there 20s look like and might want to up grade. At the trade deadline I would searously think about trading Elhers too. The Jets from what I've seen and read are over the Moon that he fell to them. I know a lot is cliche but it seem pretty genuine. The GM does want him to get heavier, so this year he'll be in the Q but after that is anyone's guess. I have said before we should look at 15-16 for a maybe go for it year but that was hingeing on Elhers being back here. With out him this team won't be a top team that year.
I think we need to sell Zach now though. The goalie market can become very deep this year. Sadly the only real buyer for him would be Quebec. They're the only team that can use an upgrade that know they're going to be in the hunt. So I don't see a king ransom coming out of it but Booth has to be part of it.

None of that is going to happen before the xmas trade period. Hate to break it to ya.
Even then, you might see one of Fucale or Gadoury moved. We will remain competitive.

Just as an aside: Timo Meier and Connor Moynihan are both on the NHL Central Scouting "Watch list" for the 2015 draft. www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=725587Maxime Fortier is a late birthday. Not eligible until 2016.
