Highly unlikely you see Fucs here after end-Nov. Hopefully not, and I hope he is still worth plenty on the trade market.

Upon further reflection and research, I have overestimated the Moose roster; or at least painted a "glass half full" on some of the younger forwards who are returning, and some of the defence corp. Some of them likely won't produce or play as well as much as they are expected to. Tough to expect the rookies like Crossley, Dachyshyn, etc. to step in and produce big numbers in their first year. I don't expect Drouin back. But my thinking is/was as long as they have Fucale in goal and Ducharme behind the bench, they have a chance to scare some teams. Charlottetown, with Mason MacDonald in goal, gives them a real chance to compete for a division title if they clean things up in their own end. Just to add to the point you have to remember that the teams top 2 players are going to miss a lot of games. Fucale will miss the start of the year with Montreal camp. Then he'll miss 3 weeks in December for WJC. So his last game with Halifax could be the 6th of December (that's just a guess). Then there's Elhers. I'd say he's going to miss the same amount that Drouin did at the beginning of last year. He could play 9 games in the show first which would add roughly another month away. So then we only have him for 3 weeks give or take and then he's gone to the WJC himself.

I don't think he played so well last year that he guaranteed himself anything... he will have to earn his spot.

I think he's as close to a lock as you can get. If he's not a lock to make the team you have to agree he's at lest a lock to go to training camp. He wasn't the reason they came 4th either. He gave Canada every chance to win they just couldn't score and there Dee sucked!

Will Hockey Canada hold that against him?

I would be shocked if Fucale didn't at least get an invite to the Team Canada camp, whenever that is. He played well enough in last year's tournament to be given an extra merit point if things are close between him and someone else in terms of making the team, or maybe on the choice on who becomes the no. 1 goalie, though he has to earn the spot. As has been said, it wasn't his fault the team in front of him fell apart. Whoever wins the backup goalie job with the Moose will have to at least hold the fort until Fucale returns, if Fucale isn't traded at some point before the tourney starts. It's at least a legitimate possibility (I'm not saying he will or should) he gets traded after the tourney, but before the trade deadline.
Ehlers will/should be a lock for team Denmark. The time Fucale and Ehlers are away from the Mooseheads will be a very important part of their season in terms of determining how their season turns out (either make a run, or go into the tank; do they become sellers or buyers heading into the trade deadline).

Fucale is a lock for Team Canada. Question is, is he a lock for #1? He still has to earn that imo, but I think he will.
Crazy camp opens next week. It's going to be a change of pace from the last 2 seasons, but it's still going to be a fun year I think. Will be interesting to see where we'll stand at xmas. While my head says the focus should be the future, my heart still thinks this roster (development from some returnees being key) can still make some noise.

Elhers is no way what so ever a lock for team FINLAND! In fact there is no chance he makes team Finland. He is however a lock for DENMARK! That's why he's call the Dashing Dain and not the Flying Fin.

Oops, my bad. I thought he was from Finland. This hasn't been my week.
I just changed my earlier post.

Lovell traded to Chicoutimi for 6th in '15. I like it, give some of the younger guys an opportunity.
Lovell had a lot of tools, just no tool box. He had opportunities to solidify his role, but never took advantage. Just too many mistakes, a lot of them mental. He's a depth guy, but being 19, we can have young guys provide that depth. All the best to him in Chicoutimi.
