I know Dom or Cam haven't said it but I doubt Fucale is going anywhere. Also curious how Falkenham has looked in the intersquad after an entire year off? or will we gage better after tomorrow night's game. (I like the fact that both Ford and Fortier look to be on the team, they seem to have played together for a few years in midget) Also anyone know if there is intersquad from 4-6 next week or do they just do that the first week of training camp? Fucale will be gone at Xmas. Too valuable an asset not to trade. Falkenham has not played in any of the intersquad games, but has looked good in practice. Intersquad games are now over.

But I'm not expecting it, nor paying attention tbh. If he shows great, if not, all the best to him at Yale, no hard feelings.

I'd like if Marino changed his mind and reported if for no other reason than, other than Jessie Lussier, he's the only right handed shot we would have on the blue line.
That being said....
Defense -
Ford for me is a lock.
Nauss had a very good game, he reminds me a bit of Darcy Ashley, small, but fiesty, battles hard, fast, and has the skill too. I don't think his size is going to be an issue, honestly.
Josh Fitzgerald is interesting to me. He wants the puck, he wants to make the first pass out of the zone and I love the confidence. I think in terms of skill he's behind Cavan, Tallefer, and Nauss. I think he's the darkhorse, he's a bit older, bridges the gap between our older guys and the younger ones.
Jacques I think will make the team initially, but, he seems to be trying to do too much out there. There's times where he looks like he's the guy who has actually played a season in the league, but then you see him slap the puck at the net every time its on his stick and he misses by a mile every time. Like suddenly he has the idea that he's P.K. Subban... and then he'll cough up the puck and give somebody a breakaway. He's frustrating to watch.
Speaking of frustrating, Jonathan Courville... he was the beneficiary of a Jaques turnover on his goal this week. His compete level isn't there most of the time. For a 3rd time in camp, he's rarely noticeable.

Understand that there is a good chance that Weegar will be back for his 20 year old season. Won't make a difference numbers-wise, but would mean the Lussier would be gone. An definite upgrade.

How's Brian MacDougall looking on the blueline?

Caught today's intersquad game.
Meier and Vuic were the best players on the ice. No joking, Vuic looks impressive out there. Granted, it's intersquad so the competition is weak compared to a reg season Q squad, but he's showing a lot of jump, composure with the puck and a great shot. It would be nice if he could develop into a decent 3rd liner that can provide toughness.
Levesque is an interesting one. He's a monster (6'5 218) and hasn't even turned 16 yet. Didn't look horrible out there. He's not fast but he isn't a bad skater. Probably goes back because of schooling and their reluctance to guarantee him a spot before Monday. I would be tempted to keep him around to see if high level coaching could create something there. You can't teach size and he seems like a decent player.
Crossley looks a little small and hesitant out there. Showed soft hands on a couple of rushes but I was pretty disappointed. If he wasn't our 1st pick I wouldn't have thought he'd have a chance. He's probably going to stick because he's such a high pick. Didn't see much from Dachyshyn. Barely noticed him at all. Jordan King didn't really get much going either. Disappointing that the 3 forwards I was excited about didn't stand out at all.
Watt played well. He seems to have improved a bit. Looks stronger and faster. Vokey looked ok.
On D I was pretty impressed with Ford. He stood out to me the most for rookie dmen. Taillefer was solid and composed. These 2 should make it for sure. Cavan Fitzgerald was good too. Although he had a hat trick, i'd put Nauss behind those 3. 2 of those goals were on penalty shots. Good little dman though.
In goal I thought Resop was pretty good. I paid a little more attention to him than the others. Looks a little raw but is quick and has really good rebound control.
Refs were letting a lot of crease crashing go on, which is why the score was so high. And some weak goals here and there.

Since Levesque is only going to be 16 this year he isn't affected by CEGEP so they have no school deadline for them. It affects 17 and I'm pretty sure 18 year olds so 16 year olds can stay as long as they can before the team is made.

^ Oops. That's what I get for posting from bed at midnight.
No real surprises there. Like I said, I would have kept Levesque around a bit longer to see what he could do in real competition or if he showed improvement over a few preseason games. I just have a soft spot for monsters lol.
Courville made his own bed imo. Pretty sure he showed up to camp completely out of shape last year. He's had plenty of opportunity to impress and never has. Didn't think he had much of a chance at 18.
It'll be interesting to see if they keep a guy like Leblanc. Decent hockey player but he's 19 and we're in a semi-rebuild. Might be a guy they cut to keep a younger player but have him on the short list for injury call-ups.
One thing that makes me believe they will go with youth is they cut Beveridge, 19yo FA from Ontario. I thought he looked alright. Big body and had a big shot.

I agree with you Joe Rogan on giving Levesque a longer look, but I guess they thought otherwise. They know he's somewhat of a project and probably knew he wouldn't make the team and most likely wanted to get a longer look at some of other kids. Definitely has the size you like.
It's early and I haven't seen any practices, but according to what I've read it looks like Resop has the inside track on the backup goalie spot. Will be an important spot when Fucale is away or traded.
Happy to read Vuic has showing well offensively at camp. He showed signs of it last year, and we know he'll drop the gloves if/when necessary. Yes, it's only training camp and mostly going against players who won't be on the roster come mid-September, but you'd rather see it than not. I'll be interested to see if he becomes a bigger factor offensively this season; I'm guessing he will, but I'm not sure how much. Outside of him, there isn't much size among the forwards (Connor Moynihan and Timo Meier being the exceptions).
Hopefully Fortier builds on his strong playoff performance from last spring, and some of the other younger forwards take that next step upwards.
Looks like they'll have some youngsters on the back end, and with offensive potential. May not be overly physical; hopefully they can hold their own.
