Willy Palov ? moosefan_WillyPalov 46m Moooseheads D Jesse Lussier will have wrist surgery today. Out for 6-8 weeks.Interesting dilemma. I'm sure there are 20yos out there that could make a similar impact on our team. Since he'll be gone for 1/3rd of the season, do we entertain getting another 20yo? Similar to the Duke vs Lewis situation except we don't have the 4th 20yo still with us.

Well, Cortese went to Texas somewhere, so we missed the boat on that one... Weegar would be a coup lol, but that's a near-zero chance.
I don't know if there's a lot of spare 20 year old defensemen out there. And honestly, 6-8 weeks is kinda bad but its not the end of the world. Gives us a really good opportunity to see what our young guys can do.

I think they wait on Weegar and if he gets assigned to AHL then they should look at bringing in another 20yo dman. There has to be a few floating around in Ontario that couldn't stick with an OHL team in a numbers game.
Lussier is a pretty weak 20 year old. There's no sense in waiting for him to heal and get back in game shape. The only thing that might save him is by all accounts he's an exceptional kid off the ice.

I say stick with what we have. Let the rookies play with Hardie and Murphy logging a ton of ice. 6-8 weeks isn't THAT long, given we're only two games in.

Took a big hit when carrying the puck and fell awkwardly, I'm guessing that's when it happened, I could be wrong there.

I watched the webcast back and it looks like it could have come from Dumulong's hit when you look at the way Lussier went down.
I hope his surgery went well and that he comes back 100% for you guys.

a simple Dumulong shoulder check it was I think that's a gross oversimplification. Shoulder checks don't usually break wrists. Falling awkardly and bracing yourself with one hand/wrist certainly can break wrists.

Cameron Darcy is back with Cape Breton. Which means they have an overager problem with Darcy, Farrell, Legare and Brassard. Would grabbing Legare for relatively cheap be an option for the Moose? Do we care enough about improving this year, even if it's for cheap?
At first I thought that giving the younger kids more ice time was only a good thing. But we may need Lussier to chew up minutes just so that our younger D don't get exhausted. I can't see us going after Legare, but I don't think there's a 0% chance of it.
