If memory serves me correctly Sawyer got criticized a decent amount too. He could be the reason for 3 goals for and have one goal against in a defensive meltdown and be shit all over. *cough* Jake Gardiner *cough* Pretty bad comparison. Gardiner has never been taken off the leash in Toronto other then when he played his best hockey(during Boston series) and his worst during a part of last season. Sawyer wouldn't have been half the player he was at 20 without the mistakes he was able to make at 16, 17, and 18.

The comparison wasn't of his invisible leash, it was his lackadaisical approach to the game. Doesn't seem like he's going all out until it's too late but also walks around players with ease when he has the puck. If he contributes offensively, few complaints. If he gets coned and finishes a game with a -3, people will bash him. People will just have to learn how to take the good with the bad.

Some very good and valid points fellow bloggers. At the end of the day, the numbers do not lie, at this point in the season, we have allowed the most goals in the league. Blame it on whomever you wish, but the bottom line is that this team is brutal defensively. Yes, Bell has been the brunt of some criticism, and rightfully so,but defence is a team game. When you go on a three game road trip and allow an average of five(5) goals against per game against and you come away with three points, count your lucky stars. We all saw last year in the first round of the playoffs where allowing 5,6,or 7 goals a game gets you, absolutely nowhere. At the end of the day, defence wins games and championships, hence, the old adage, the other team cannot beat you if they cannot score on you. Lets hope for better defensive days ahead. Eaglefan62, I was not firing bullets at you I was just jumping into your thread as last year there were a lot of negative criticism towards the goalies not being able to do this or that and the fact that you mention in your post that this good old game of hockey that we all love is a TEAM SPORT well you hit the nail on the head. Is it the goalies fault last year in the first round of playoffs was it the defence was it the forwards maybe not coming back and helping out as much MY answer is yes to all of this, as it is a team sport as you mention above and at the begining to all of this is a system that the team play and are taught by the coaching staff are they to blame geez we can go on forever as the coach may say the team did not play to the system that we put in place. The blame game can go on forever BUT LET'S FACE IT one thing we seem to do well is get a lot of shots and generate a hell of a lot of opportunities on the offence hence when you do that part well your defence game ends up hurting, so maybe if we tried to be a little more tighter in our defensive zone without causing all the turnovers because we are trying to put a good show on for the fans sorry folks but I to love a great offensive game but at the end of the day the important thing is the 2 points so if we try to evaluate or play a better defensive game the offence will come no way we can hold back this team (TO MUCH TALENT) but if we help out in our zone giving less chances to other team maybe just maybe we become a better two way team and the 2 points will be ours YES THAT'S IT HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! let's not forget it's the start of the season GEEZ FOLKS LET's HAVE SOME FAITH AND SOME FUN CHEERING ON OUR EAGLES…... OK Folks I said I would and I'm here to defend once again the Goalies!!!!!
So if you have a moment, please check what I said up above in my last posting first and then read the following. SO I guess the goalies are just brutal who play for the EAGLES right!!! Brassard is no good right!!! he did not bad in Quebec had his ups and his downs but overall his numbers were not that bad at all the issues he may have had was in the playoffs but overall a solid goalie but to read everything written here, well my god he has issues just like the last bunch of goalies we had in the nest.... Trudeau who what played for the Ottawa 67's last year and what got an opportunity with the Islanders AHL team but hey we shipped him off to Val'Dor hmmmm interesting, then we can talk about Bureau who to listen to people talk, well he could not stop a beach ball if he tried and this year with Sherbrooke he is what GEEZ only one of the stars of the week in QMJHL and has 7 wins and 3 lost so far this year with 10 starts not to shabby 11th top goalie in the league or hey let's have a look at Fortin who decided to take his game to another league all together as he felt he was never given a fair chance when the guy did what last year 16 wins and I believe 3 lost oh and he is 19 to top it off checked were he is playing this year and the kid is getting bombarded averaging about 36-38 shots per game also while maintaining the second best in the league with 0.924 SV% and two shutouts interesting and then there Mr. Chase Marchand who for some reason got moved last year after having a not bad run with us but again not a fair shot like Fortin and he to a 19 year old, he goes to the OHL like Trudeau and well had a so so time but comes back to QMJHL this year and ends up were with the Tigrers in Victo and he is doing what holding a 0.916 SV% and 10the best goalie in the Q so far this year not to bad for a rebuilding team and here we are with as some would say a power house of a team with a hell of a lot of skill with the best goals for 60 in the league HMMMM O_omakes you want to scrath your head and wonder. Like I said above to score goals well Damm we are good at that but to keep the puck out of the net boy what 54 against kind of sounds like last year right and we are at the bottom of the league so were I ask you is the problem THE GOALIES RIGHT MY FELLOW POSTERS GEEZZZ!!!! I've said it once and I will say it again folks, when you have the fire power that we have even putting Auger or Fucale or both for that matter will not change much until you look at the defensive zone system and how the boys are averaging turnover over turnover come on how many times are folks gonna keep saying DAMM we have a drama with our goalies maybe if we sat back and had a clear look at the complete situation and not just drop the blame on the masked guy (Halloween fast approaching ) a little humour maybe we would notice a bit of a trend as all the past goalies are holding there own in other teams other leagues a team has to be a team first and for most and we have to develop a better system in our D ZONE if not well we will still have the same issues in a couple of month's OK OK enough of my input's now let's watch how everyone starts beating up my comments HAHAHAHA!!!! ENJOY FOLKS

How do you expect any normal logical human being to read that mess? Some punctuation is your friend and helps you to come off as slightly less then a fanatical lunatic that a paragraph full of bolding, smiley faces, and semi-colon's would indicate. I stopped reading after your 1st line.
