SO win for the Cats.
Thought Rioux looked okay in his second start.
Top Line was great again.
On another note, if anybody has a game used Barbashev jersey they'd consider selling or trading or both , pm me. I have a Tremaine light blue one and I won a Liam Murphy won last night. Willing to trade both for a Barbashev or 1 plus cash. Also won a team signed stick last year. Stick alone retails for $200

Personally, I didn't think it was a great game, a win yes(one should expect that against a weak team) but I give Val D'or A+ for hard work and their coach should be happy with his team's game. Cats top line - great but other lines, a work in progress. I thought Rumble worked the top line too much and it showed in the O/T period IMHO.

Team is certainly still a mess defensively. I'll give them some more time as its still early and Tassi was only just added the last few games so they havent had any set pairings. I hope to see a big improvement in 2 weeks when SJ comes into town.

As much as the top line is great when they have the puck, which is most of the time, they aren't great when trying to recover the puck in the defensive zone. Our defensemen often have problems making a first pass because the forwards aren't moving enough and aren't getting open. Unless Rumble gives them a better system to play to and have the players follow it, this team won't be considered a serious top contender despite the talent they have on the team.

I certainly would have to agree with you, I thought we would see nice crisp passes played in a high tempo game, we still have a long way to go. defense is having a hard time clearing the defense zone and just trying to throwing the puck out of the zone, andmost time being pcked up by the other team. Still a work in process.

Our top line is overloaded ... when Barbashev and Tkachev were away it was the Lalonde/Garland/Askew trio that carried the load. Move Legere up with the Russians and reunite Garland and Lalonde ... bring Askew back in between them. That line worked well.

Had the Cats lost this game after being up 2 - 0, I think it would have been more embarrassing than loosing home opener. I agree with all other commentators, there is much more work/tweaking to be done for sure as I am sure coach Rumble will address that.
