Not necessarily. What if he was the last pick of the draft but was leading his Midget team in scoring by a large margin(say 2.5-3ppg) and was in huge demand from teams looking for youth? The value of drafted players change once they start playing games again. By this point, 3rd round picks might be worth 1sts to some teams and 8ths to others. There's no 'topping out' at your draft slot. Does that apply to Sutton ? What does apply is he hasn't played all year due to injury. So far ... at best he is worth a 3rd ... maybe a 4th if you consider the long term injury. There is no arguement that you cab make that makes him worth more when he hasn't played since being drafted.

Quebec and another team had Sutton at the end of the first round so I guess for some teams he has value.

I can say , from a reliable source , that Eric Brassard will be a 20 year old goaltender for Moncton next season.

I also mentioned this before that article came out I found that out during the game on the island.

Mentioned if before the article but there's an awful lot of Booth speculation going on here for something that's so open and closed.

I would have kept an unhappy Tkachev and let him rot on this team (taint his draft potential with questionable work ethic) then send him to Quebec along with even more for something mediocre which Billy seems to be pointing toward. Quebec had no choice they were the buyers this year with Memorial cup host attached, if anything we should be coming out on top in this trade or this looks real bad on Rumble and Co. Rumble you better not have been taken to the cleaner dumping two 100pt men for average players and a couple pics. I would have rather hung onto them then have more fringe players traded in pushing more current players into stands.

Will we be more unhappy about the defenseman going or the players coming back? ? I'm guessing Johnstone out and Fiori and Sutton back? (Clearly would have preferred Gauthier but that would be 4 20's for next year with Brassard)

Not sure our other D are at a point where they would Mem Cup ready enough for Quebec. Sweeney came in along with Emond in the Daniel Milan trade with Victo. So, you could say we got him for a steal. Some say he might catch a break and get an invite to a camp and could by all means sign an AHL contract depending how he finishes the season. So we could lose him next year. Not sure which forward(s) are coming our way but if we can get a quality D with another year of eligibility that may not be a bad thing.

I like you style when it comes to a rotting senario, but that would be a tough one to sell for a whole season. I don't think we have to come out on top with a deal with Quebec. I think even if the trade is close to even I believe there is some good will being banked on Moncton's part with Quebec. By selling Moncton is throwing in the towel on a run at the Cup. But, our league is still hosting the cup. By being fair with the host shows them to be good trade partners and they can bank that for a future deals. I don't think Rumble is a dummy and I am sure the past two drafts have been tough on him not having anything in the cupboards. I don't think the table was set for Tchatchev to hit a 100pts with his "injury" over the past six weeks so that was a dump but get what you can for him deal. Lalonde, if he didn't get hurt was a possible 100 pt man so I will give you that one, but once again what good is a 100 pt guy if you don't go deeper then 2 rounds in the playoffs and if you ain't getting him back next year? If anything I we Cats fans should be thankful we had a half season of exciting hockey. Now we sit though a shortened rebuild and see how it all pans out and who knows maybe surprise someone in the playoffs for a round or two. The number one power play in the league should be intact, except possibly Sweeney. I think there will still be a respectable team still skating after the trade deadline. Unlike the year we unloaded Gormley and left a JR AAA team to finish the year with Roman Will see more rubber than a Goodyear tire plant each night.

When is it a go for it year? When they are running away with the league at Christmas or Hosting? I can't see anyone going up in a 7 game series coming out on top against Rimouski. I think with Quebec with what they have done and potentially getting Duclair back will be another Goliath. So, no we do not have the go for it team this year. I think if we would have sold the year Halifax was too strong instead of dealing for Danualt I think we would have had many assets this year to build and to bring it to any team in the league. We didn't and the run was cut short in the first round with our team stacked with drafted or signed kids. That go for it year cost us and set us back. We haven't even cycled through the non-maritime teams yet and our record is not the best against the teams we have played. I don't know if they raise Maritime Division Champ banners or not but that ain't the go for it I want.
