I was surprised by the Simard trade but frankly you can get better players than Simard with less than a 3rd round pick so I'm not too worried about it. Not too sure about that. You're not getting much with 4ths and 5ths. You absolutely can get value with 4th and 5th round picks...... Bokondji Imama was a 4th round pick that Baie Comeau just used to land a first and a second... after two years with him in the lineup on their bottom six fighting and making space... even getting himself an NHL invite and it's not like Timothe Simard is all that hard to replace

Trades must be done, 50 minutes and nothing new...

Hinds 4th Legare 4th Darcy 4th
Depth 20's can be found for that price. We will need at least 1 for next season

Next year at the deadline 2016 4ths and 5ths are not huge trade chips to replace a 19yr old 3rd liner like Simard. I agree he can be replaced, I'm just doubtful it's via trade for less then a 3rd.

With MacSween, who hails from Rothesay, NB, you are getting a solid player, he is a 96 born and have been fortunate enough to see him play for the Saint John Vitos Midget AAA club the last few years. He should be able to fill in Simards role and be productive on the 3rd line.
Surprised to see that Anderson also was dealt to you guys from Val D'or. He also is a solid player and depending on the role he is given he can put the puck in the net and put up some points in the second half of the season for you guys. Him and Leblanc will help you guys out big time.

So the post trade deadline line-up looks a little like this, when all are healthy.
Svechnikov - Bishop - Lazarev Dubois - Farrell - Hinds Boucher - Anderson - J.Smith Brunelle - Tower - Martineau MacSween/D.Smith
Leblanc - Levielle Deschamps - Gosselin MacIntyre - Lalonde Nosella/Beaudin
Belanger Sullivan
Personally I won't miss Simard and his 1 goal this year and Pelletier a guy who seemingly quit on his teammates and the fans after being criticized publicly by his coach.

Looking to next year the forward group drops off dramatically after Dubois. It should be the main priority in the offseason and relatively easy to address given the assets available & the amount of forwards available every year.

Hopefully we won't have to address goaltending in the off season but its better that we have a few months to see how that plays out. Lots of picks to juggle with at the draft. All I can hope is we got a group that wants to be here and we see progress.

Yeah the holes can be filled with the picks but at that point we're all in so we better spend wisely as there's no chance for more do over's like we're starting to see with all of this shuffling. There's no room for more errors like Brassard or we've wasted 3 years.

Not totally surprised to see Simard gone. I liked the kid, good work ethic, played with a lot of heart. He was certainly given the opportunity the past while to play top six and powerplay with the injuries and his lack of offensive skills was quite evident. The Eagles sound pretty high on the Smith kid, maybe they are making rom for him.In any event I am quite sure Colby Tower and/or MacSween can replace Simard.

I will be looking forward to the draft after the year is over though.

We got the top available defenceman in a lot of peoples opinion so that alone should help flip some of those 1 goal losses in the 2nd half.
