He addressed the back end which was our main concern. Whether it pans out or not, we will see. I will be looking forward to the draft after the year is over though. Absolutely. We should be after the top available forward(s) and could have 3 1st rounders in play. We got the top available defenceman in a lot of peoples opinion so that alone should help flip some of those 1 goal losses in the 2nd half. Do you think we end up drafting one of those picks or do you think all 3 will traded for top forwards?

Where the 2 we have now end up will probably decide what route we take.

I can't say that I'm impressed with this trading session. In my opinion: 1) We have improved defensively, but at a heavy price. Not so sure, in light of our other trades, that I wouldn't have waited until the draft. 2)Statistically, I don't see any improvement in goal. Belanger is a 19 year old, who in his 3 years of play (the first season he only played 2 games) has not had a better than .881 save pct. Hopefully his numbers will go opposite to what Brassard's did. 3) We've actually gone backwards on depth in the 3rd and 4th lines (at least statistically). An earlier poster had a 3rd line of 20 year old acquired Anderson on a line with wingers totalling 4 goals this year.
We certainly have become a buy high, sell low team. I'm not a big believer in running with rumours, but it certainly appears that the rumours of players having discontent may have/had merit. We have basically lost a lot of trade value from what was supposed to be some of our better players. I personally just don't buy that they quit on their team. This team will need to make a number of additions to be a Memorial cup contender next year. Goaltending alone, Belanger's numbers currently don't coincide with a memorial cup contender. Yes, they have some good picks, but they just can't throw those away for a one year run. Realistically they will need to use two of the 1sts to acquire 16 year olds that will fit both next year depth, and future year roles. I'm pleased they didn't trade Dubois, but I probably would put him in a trade for Darrell Young.

Two guys I would want would be Mark Simpson as a solid 20 for next year and Joey Ratelle as a 19 year old who would most likely be back as a 20. That would help our top 6 and we have the assets to get them. Who would you guys be looking at and why?

MacSween and a 3rd from BLB for Corbeil Damm a lot happened this afternoon ( friggin job ) BLB must like Corbeil more than Beaudin because my source told me he ( Beaudin ) was on standby this morning . I guess they seen a lot more of Corbeil up there . Where does Beaudin find ice time now though ? So no one wanted Brassard ?

What info do you have to make you think it's not true? You think we wanted to give Darcy and Pelletier away?

I am only saying that players can be underperforming for a number of reasons, and that doesn't necessarily mean that they quit on their team. I also agree that no one wanted to give these players away, but the fact is that more than one player was traded for far less than his start of season value. That's when I start to wonder why.

Other than our improved defence I'm not so sure how I feel about the moves we've made. We shall see how the team performs down the stretch. Looking forward to the game tomorrow night.

The improved D was our only major deals IMO. The other moves were clearly to replace guys who wanted out(or have under preformed/chalk it up however you please). We got the best goalie available for a reasonable price. Overpaying for better right now would have pissed alot of fans off. And most of all, we improved without giving away too much. Potentially 3 1st rounds next year and dubois still in an eagles uniform. Ill chalk that up as a win for this team. Obviously like you said, time will tell, but standing still surely wasn't an option.

I'm happy with the moves. We got rid of the players that were not clicking and upgraded our D which was our two biggest problems imo. We'll see how the rest of our season goes and assess what we need at the draft. I really do like Dumont as a GM. Can't wait for tomorrow!

What I should have said was I'm not very familiar with anyone we got back other than LeBlanc who I know is a stud on defence. Belanger (from what I looked at) doesn't have numbers any better than Brassard so other than being a year younger the improvement seems minor if at all. As far as the forwards we recieved, I know next to nothing about them but from what I'm reading now we faired off pretty well. I love that we still have a pile of good draft picks remaining over the next few years. I kinda jumped on here right after work, looked at what we did and posted before I had time to analyze everything. So pumped for tomorrow nights game. Should be lots of energy with all the new faces in the lineup.

So did Brassard end up being claimed or anything ? I assume you sit on waivers for 24 hours so we won't know until that's done.

Brass is still on waivers, missisauga picked up jacob brennan from bathurst off waivers so that option for brassard is gone now

So now the question is, who do we look at trading for at the draft. There will probably be some players available from Rimouski and Quebec. It seems that our defense is set, but Dumont might move one of Deschamps or Macintyre and get a top dmen.
So now the question is what forwards do we add? With only 4 forwards (Evgeny, Lazarev, Bishop and Dubois) real impact players returning Dumont could be looking at adding up to 3 forwards. Who are some Condidates? Maybe Michael Joly or Mark Simpson?
