Don't think a "summary conviction" get you placed on a sex register. First of all sexual activity (of whatever gender) between two consenting adults is not illegal, however where you decide to perform said activity would come under indecent act in a public place. A sex act in a park would be considered public place but a sex act in your living room with windows open for anybody to view would not be considered sex in a public place – hence no charge. In order to be on the Sex Register I understand you had to be convicted of an “indictable offense” under criminal code such a persons of “trust” having minors(kids) under them who become involved in inappropriate or suggestions of activity be it sex or whatever. Teachers, clergy, group leaders etc. and of course child porn.

How long? not sure The season? perhaps some more than others? most likely but he did none of that... and nobody can tell me it's for any legal ramifactions... it's because he wants to make the playoffs and was very much in doubt of that happening when the incident occurred Stop...just stop. You sound like a jilted ex lover of Groulx. Seriously, you spewed crap and half truths about Groulx all through the World Juniors. Now you are ranting from your own mangled conclusions about moral compasses and who controls suspensions of players who haven't been proven guilty of any wrong doing. Get counseling it isn't healthy to be so obsessed with a middle aged man. There's been plenty of examples where players have been suspended by their team without ever being convicted or having been proven guilty of any wrong doing . Vuic in Halifax comes to mind right away. Sent from my C6906 using proboards

Please tell me how a Halifax player proves Benoit Groulx has no character...I can wait.

Groulx himself has suspended players before... he sent Evans- Renaud packing years ago long before the fact he had committed a hit and run and left a guy for dead and in the meantime tried to get his windshield fixed on the downlow
But back then Gatineau was safely in a playoff spot and Renaud was certainly not a key cog in the success of his team

But suspending one guy for an off-ice criminal act is a little different than suspending 6 guys ... or whatever the number should be. One player makes little difference to the team, the league, the fans. But 6 players affects the team, the league, the paying fans, and other lower level teams that lose their players to fill the holes. Ultimately this is a business and taking 6 players out of the lineup for an extended period, or even the entire remainder of the season, affects everybody. Evans-Renaud almost killed a man and then tried to cover it up ... and likely did maim the man for life. These 6 guys had sex (or participated in it some how) with a consenting adult (apparently), but it was in a public location (the only apparent crime). This "crime" is hardly the same as that of Evans-Renaud. But if they did commit a crime, then suspensions should be levied. I'm just not sure how much is appropriate. I agree though ... if this was back in say November and Gatineau was playing so terribly, they probably suspend them all for say 5 games each, and maybe send some of them home. Ultimately, the team gets to do what they want to do ... it is an internal suspension so they have to take into account a lot of issues. If the league wants to suspend them then they can do it whenever they want to. I don't think the league got involved in the Vuic matter ... can't recall if they did in the Evans-Renaud matter. Whatever happens, I think it is important that they not rush into a decision, because this will affect these players going forward. If someone was to make a real stink about it ... a media source ... then the Q and the team might be pressured into making a move. Sort of like the frenzy when the Ray Rice video came out and we saw how the NFL did not act on the incident ... they had no choice at that point but to suspend heavily. There is probably video in the restaurant showing what occurs in the restaurant and outside the door ... but not in the bathroom. What bothers me most about this is that it is reported that some players blocked the door. While it is reported as consensual, you have to wonder if she got into more than she bargained for and then went along with it so she didn't get hurt. Barring the door, IMO, takes it beyond just consensual sex in a public place.
