The biggest shocker of this series so far, is that you guys are letting an out of towner start your game day threads. I am sure he waited up after midnight to do it lol. But he is basically a Moose fan anyway. When you go to a opposing teams board that much to talk about them year after year you have some sorta sick obsession. All moose fans are welcome.

As long as Max Fortier ties it up within a minute of their goal we will be fine. I do not think a track meet helps the Cats in this series. And eventually refs will put more Cats in the Box Moncton plays it pretty disciplined ... last night was pretty typical. Against Chic they were trying to stir things up after every whistle, but Moncton stayed out of it for the most part. We were one of the lesser penalized teams all season ... and have continued that in the playoffs. Halifax is not a greasy team like Chic is ... so for us to get you guys to take penalties we need to outwork you and force the hook and hold type calls. We just have to get our PP going to make teams pay when they try to grease it up ... not working great yet ... but it was our bread and butter in the regular season. Shawinigan never had the grade A PP scoring chances u had last night. .. Pretty sure that will be addressed by the Moose coaches. Moncton outshot the Moose for a reason. Halifax PK has been good in all the games they won. I do notice that Shawinigan moved the puck faster on the PP...Moncton is thinking too much.

Another thing that changed in the Mooseheads play mid first round and seems to be common place now is the high forwards are coming back to get the puck out off rebounds in the crease...this has saved their bacon a few times. Things we never saw the Moose do to support each other defensively in the season are being done now. Little things that are hard to measure but they are huge.

I thought Ducharme did a great job mixing up the forwards line so that cats couldn't just concentrate on our top line Elhers kept popping up with several line combinations as did Meier . You can really notice the difference in Ducharme 's coaching after 2 long playoff runs (experience) he is out coaching other teams more often now!.

Gadoury is buying into the defensive side of the game as well.... something he hasn't done since he's been here. Ehlers went down to block a shot (I hope... ) last night and ended up taking a penalty. But the effort defensively is there from everyone. Our skill level and experience isn't there on the back end. But having your whole team buying into defensive systems, and trying just as hard without the puck as you do with it, is such a key part of winning. I don't want to get into the discussion on how good Ducharme is. But he seems to be getting the most out of what he has right now.

I do not think Conor Garland is long for this series the way he has been hitting the boards. The Cats coaches need to protect him better.
Dom has done a great job coaching - someone over on the Wildcats discussion says they were out coached by a mediocre coach...I think thats his playoff experience shining through.

Brassard is the first goalie that Gadoury has ever met on his own team during play for sure. Finally they have reigned in the guys to come back further and stopped forcing passes that would only get picked off.

Garland looks very impressive I just don't think he has the seasoning of a Ehlers or Drouin of last year. Why was he drafted so late was it one of those everyone scared he would not show up things.

I'd say it's exactly that...american player who only showed up in Moncton part way through his first season?

He has been checked hard all season because he is their best player and teams will key on that.....he only missed one game all year and ran away with the scoring title by 27 points...there is no reason to think he won't stick around.

Wouldn't be surprised if tonight is a flip of last night. Moncton didn't play well, but could also have scored on a few more scrambles, and Moose could have seen more shots stopped. It was a wild, wide open game. I am not sure we will see that sloppiness again. I think both coaches will address some dangerous play.
I don't know how Garland can keep this up either. He never seems to leave the ice, takes 2+ minute shifts, and is a small guy. At some point he has to wear down. He was looking pretty sluggish and worn out by the end of the game last night, so hopefully as the series moves along he won't be as dangerous.
Hopefully win or lose, its a competitive game for the Moose.

No doubt we'll see a different Moncton team tonight, the Scuba Nik is getting a little lame but who really gives a shit if he can continue to do what he's done all playoffs. It's not like he hasn't earned the reputation. He dives more than any player I've ever seen at any level of hockey.

Even if true, Ehlers has a big smooth stride and glides around alot...I doubt it wears him out like Garlands waterbug, stop/go style, especially at his size.
