Well Putintsev sounds like quite the pick. It wasn't a definite yes that he was coming, but if its true that he was following the team and Peters was his Coach then there is a good chance. They were living on the edge not taking him with the first pick in the 2nd round if they were afraid Moncton might have taken him. It is kind of funny that some criticized Peters being hired as a scout and it may have paid off already. People actually criticized hiring Peters? Why? Sounds like a great pick, 17 year old that can hopefully play at the very least, the 3rd line right away.

Where is SteveUL? Doesn't he like to give fans of other teams a hard-time on Draft Day?

They picked 26 and 28 so unless Moncton knew Halifax was going to trade with BC last minute what chance they pay to move up to RN or BC pick, ahead of time. They already traded for picks. Flower may have been taken by RN perhaps or was on more teams radar vice just Moncton. Teams take risks on their lists all the time, thats why they have lists. Moncton may have taken Flower in the other case and Halifax would have to move up anyway for that.

Jordan Lepage, another RHD. Lacking some puck skills, but has a good mix of foot speed and physicality. Lepage's biggest asset is his shot. He has a rocket from the point. He needs to work on getting rid of it a little quicker though.

Halifax selects Shawn Kennedy 116th overall. He was ranked 29th on the Central Scouting List.. Why has he slipped so far? NCAA commitment? NCAA route and some "baggage"

Wow, tough call. I can see Taillifer being traded or cut. Not too sure about Hunter. He was a FA from Ontario so I don't know if they would want to cut him. Josh Fitzgerald is probably done. So we have Donaghey, C. Fitzgerald, Nauss, Ford for sure. They were really high on Flower and Jordan Lepage from what they were saying after the draft. If Marino shows up. Not much was said about Charlebois so far. You can see Donaghey being traded at Christmas. It will be very interesting. The problem with most of our defensemen on the bottom end is that they're just "okay". Hunter, Taillefer, not really high in demand. Don't get me wrong, I like both kids. Hunter has the size, he has good compete in front of the net and in the corners, but his puck skills are nearly non-existent and his foot-speed causes problems for him. Taillefer plays much bigger than he is, he's physical and has a mean streak. He's always got his gloves up in the dirty areas... makes a decent fist pass but overall his puck skills are blow average. And I would be shocked if Marino showed up. If he did he'd slide into our second pair. What is going to hurt Tailifer is his skating. The one thing the long 14 playoff games did was give Dom a real good look at what everyone of these guys could do under pressure. The only thing that may break a tie on the final day of camp is that experience playing this structured Dom system for 85 games though.

Now that the draft has past us and we get to look forward to the Euro draft I like the position this team is in. I'm very excited to see this Durandeau kid next year. Don't get me wrong I'm not expecting anything crazy from him, just from what I've read and seen he looks like he'll be a good one. For me if he comes in and gets 30 points that's a good season, anything above that is a huge season. If he gets over 20 I'm happy.
The back end is where I'm very interested in next year. The 3 16yo picked this year all seem like great picks. There's really no room for any of them but you have to think Flower is pretty much guaranteed a spot. That means Cam will have to either drop a guy or move one. I feel pretty comfortable in saying everyone agrees Taillefer is the odd man out. Sadly the start of last year the was no question he looked out of place. He seemed to find his stride about 10 games left in the regular season. And them in the playoffs too. I thought he became a good player just his size hurt him. The 3 that were drafted this weekend are all bigger then him so I think that hurts him more. Now usually when people say we need to get rid of a player other people from other boards come here and say well if you don't want him why would other teams. I usually agree with that but this time it's not that he sucks it just he got squeezed out. I think he should be in the league and some team should give him a chance.
Another way to open up space for maybe one of the other guys is trading Donaghey in August. A team looking to sure up their D right from go might be interested. Something like Quebec did with Graves last year. Not saying they should do this I'm just saying it is an option if the price is right.
There's nothing wrong with them going back to midget either. Look at how Ford turned out. They are still assets too. They can be trading chips to maybe bring in some help up front.
I'm really interested in this ILya kid overall. There hasn't been a full on yes he coming but it seems very positive on him and his skill set seem like he will be a top 6 right away. The thing I don't fully get is he is Russian but played in US for a few years ( how many is a few?) which makes him an American as far as the league is cares? I know w had Yuri before too and he was the same but I'm pretty sure he was dual citizen. It doesn't sound like Ilya is. How does this work?
If Meier is back (which I think he will) I think this team can do like they did this year and beat up on some teams. Yeah we are pretty much losing the best player in the league but we still have a pretty good team. Just a guess but it might look something like this out of training camp.
Meier/ Moynihan/ Fortier
Watt/ Euro/ Putintsev
C. Moynihan/ Falkinham/ Shewfelt
Durandeau/ Crossley/ I hope he show but have my doubts Dachyshyn
Then you got the D looking like
Fitzgerald/ Donaghey
Ford/ Hunter
Nauss/ Argento/ Flower.
That's is a line up that could give a few teams some head aches.

I read a couple of times that Putintsev was "Russian-American". Maybe his Mother is American. Not sure but lets hope there is no red tape getting him here.

Dachyshyn father said he was not going to give up eligibility for 4th line and sitting out so don't guess he is going to be on 4th line. They would likely move bodies to get him in the lineup if he shows something. This team beating up teams wont be the usual. I would expect less than last year and they had a hard time with Bathurst during the year so consistency will be a problem especially as other teams have bulked up. The playoffs I think gave people a different outlook on the regular season than it actually was. I do feel there are plenty of positions for ice time especially forwards who could be pushed out, if skill shows in any of the new players. Meier needs to be traded if possible.

I have to agree with Mooseinfo on this one, I think a guy like Argento is more likely to be the odd man out. Taillefer, although his skating isn't up to snuff, plays a simple game, he doesn't try and overdo it. He knows his strengths and weaknesses and plays to them. Argento on the other hand has issues in most aspects of his game, his feet aren't great, he shies away from the physicality even though he's one of the biggest D, and his hockey IQ is off (IMHO). Also, I don't think that Hunter is going to make 2nd pairing, I think that's Nauss' spot to lose - what he lacks in size he certainly makes up for with his feet, doesn't shy away from the physical side of the game and battles hard and has offensive flair. My opinion is Hunter and Argento may be the low men on the totem pole, assuming of course these new D are good enough to make the team in their first year. Going back to midget isn't always a bad thing.

Since it is still considered a rebuild year I think that they may keep a younger player over some of the D that were on the roster last season. I feel that Argento, Hunter and Taillfer will all be on the bubble come Aug.
Flower & Lepage are closer to being ready for the Q than Charlebois.
Time will tell.

The few games he played last year I made sure to watch him specifically to see when, how and why he made mistakes. The thing is I waited and waited and waited. Not saying he didn't mess up but I will say only once I had to say that a rookie mistake. This kid is ready to play in this league. This team is actually looking to have the possibility of having 2 scoring lines this year. Last year they had 4 guys that's it. If this Ilya comes as advertise and assuming the Euro pick will be fairly skilled that should give us at lest 5 guys. This team will be a team that surprises some teams is all I'm saying. I don't disagree with trading Meier I just don't see it happing.

I just think you are being overly optimistic on the Moose lineup too early to say it has 2 scoring lines better than last year. You actually are saying 4 guys verses 5, one of them not being an Ehlers.

You both clearly need a proper avenue to work out your issues and with summer upon us this place could use some excitement!
