Bowers is going back in the draft, we are getting the #9 pick. VIA Mikaƫl Lalancette There is a writing about it on the Moosehead page, word on the herd. It is pretty bad when Halifax can write on it, yet this organization cannot keep its paying customers somewhat up to date. If they have made a decision that could be leaked to Quebec media, again where is the CB post.

With the draft only two weeks from tomorrow, shouldn't the marketing and communications of this team be stepped up? I would think that with potentially 3 1st round picks, the organization should step up their website and use of the local media to keep the team in the news, and aim to increase ticket sales. While having a draw for a trip to the hockey tournament is a nice prize, I think promoting the draft, and giving some interviews with regard to some information on the direction of the team would help more. While this member board only represents a portion of the fan base, from my reading at times many are die hard fans sort of to speak. This, IMO, speaks volumes when the last member board post on the 2016 draft was almost 3 weeks ago. Look at the Halifax team website, almost daily updates and draft profiles. Has the CB Post ever followed up on the Bowers return to the draft? What will CB take in compensation for the Ranger trade? Even if the team is not prepared to answer the questions, they should not just be totally avoided. While economics obviously plays a big part in ticket sales, so does advertising and promoting. This team is the biggest sports draw in this little area. They have the ability to draw a lot of, basically free, advertising through the local media, and their own website. Instead, IMO, I just see missed opportunities and many discouraged fans.

In an era where engaging with your fans is not only a necessity but is extremely easy and very valuable...this team continues to employ a strategy almost as if they're marketing to children as there's never any substance in anything released. You're right....no follow up on the Bowers decision. Not 1 person from the organization has had the time to speak to a reporter about a very key decision that fans are interested in. Or offer any clue as to what the plan is for the Ranger compensation. While some businesses, especially 1 or 2 locally, use social media to grow their business we seem to be an organization almost using it to kill ours because no adult fans with real questions about the team can get any real info they're interested in. They seem to have all the time in the world except for when fans want answers to real questions. People could be sitting on season ticket deposits waiting to hear what direction the team will take and will have to wait for people like us here to break it down after the draft. It's a joke what they're doing with this franchise. Never have people been more interested an engaged about the product and learning about it and never has coverage or the teams "give-a-shit" meter been any lower. I'm still waiting for others to break some of the info around town about the Dumont decision. There's some quotes i've heard sponsors being told that would make fans irate which is why some have already decided to no longer support the team. But we're apparently not entitled to any opinion or thoughts on that either.

Finally an article about the team in the paper... www.capebretonpost.com/Living/2016-05-22/article-4534605/Screaming-Eagles-perched-firmly-in-the-community/1Because God knows the fans don't want answers to real issues with the team. They want the CB Post to partner with the team to provide feel good information like... How big our fan base is(Did you know is stretches all the way across the Island!?) How old our fans are(Would you believe they're as young as infants and as old as 100!?) That our fans spend money before and after the game at local merchants and that our attendance is consistent and coming off our exciting playoff run there has been an increase(watch for the clever wording...) in new fans purchasing season tickets? I feel like we're getting propaganda circa 1930's Germany at this point. Shane Bowers? Who is he? Dumont's contract...team direction...how to right the wrongs from the last rebuilding plan...the team will get to all that when they're damn good and ready. But look at the positivity!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've never had more NEW FANS sign up for tickets!!!! Well let me get right over there with my deposit. I don't remember an exciting playoff run or have any details about what kind of product I will be paying for next season but my fuck how can you not be excited after that article!

I don't remember an exciting playoff run or have any details about what kind of product I will be paying for next season but my fuck how can you not be excited after that article! While I agree you should expect far more from the "media" ... I'm not sure why you do. It has been this way in the Maritimes for a long time now. The newspapers are partners of the team and not arms length reporters. They are simply there for the team to get their messages out and pump up ticket sales. Please stop expecting the newspaper to write a hard hitting article on what went wrong ... you can hope for it, but don't expect it. You will not get any sort of article that writes anything negative toward the team, Coach, or ownership group. Where each team is lucky to have one newspaper covering them, there is no real competition for the reporter to need to write the hard-hitting articles. And the team can choose to snub the reporter if he gets out of line. Unlike the NHL where several news/sports outlets cover each team, and they are obligated to hold press conferences almost daily, it is tougher to snub a guy that writes a negative article ... because they all will report negativity when it is warranted. Snub one guy and the other's will write an article about snubbing a media member ... you can't win and have to play nice. So I think your biggest problem is that you are hoping that the NHL media model will show up, but it just isn't going to happen. With newspapers dying a slow death, they have to re-invent themselves, and many have to cut back staff to compete. My local paper is getting thinner and thinner by the month with more and more advertising and less and less content. By the time I get it at 8:00 in the morning on my door-step ... it is old news ... because I can read the news as it happens online. I only have a hard copy subscription now because it comes with the online subscription, which is $4 more per month than just the hard copy newspaper. I don't have an option to just have the online subscription. If I did then Irving would have to close all of these printing presses and stop printing hard copy papers.
