For those of you who are cancelling their season tickets: Did anyone have seats in a good location, I may upgrade if your seats were good! I cancelled 2 seats in section 23 today. Feel free to take them. Solid view of the ice and always some action being behind the visitor's bench. Not officially done however as I have not received an email reply but hoping to find out what the deal is this week.

I have no doubt that this is great for a lot of people but unfortunately this change wasn't geared towards people of my demographic that the Wildcats seem to care less and less about every year. It's all about the families because they bring in a lot of money and being a business guy myself, I understand. I wish them the best of luck, I hope it works out for them. I'll still be attending a lot of games and following online, etc. It doesn't make me any less of a fan, it just means I will have less pressure to attend games I don't feel like attending. Most Sunday afternoon games were a chore for me, especially during football season. I'll see how I feel about Saturday afternoon games as we go along but at the moment I hate it.

That is a good point ... families have been brought up as a primary reason for the change, but avoiding going head to head with HNIC could also attract more people - lots of fans of all ages probably couldn't be bothered to head out and spend money on junior hockey if they had the choice to watch NHL for free on TV at home.

I don't disagree with that ... but you can watch at least one hockey game pretty much every night of the week, without having anything more than the basic HD package. I don't pay for any extra sports channels and I can watch 2 or 3 different games most nights. So missing a hockey game is no big deal ... I miss games every night. I 100% agree if it is a key matchup with your favourite team (Habs/Leafs, Habs/Bruins, etc.) ... some people will choose to stay home and watch on TV ... but that happens on any given night and it may not even conflict with a Wildcats game. I agree with Pens ... I hated the Sunday games at 4:00. I'd prefer to be at home watching football ... and eating dinner at a reasonable time with my family. I get home at 7:00 at the earliest for a 4:00 PM game, and so I either have to eat alone or make the family wait for me. The 3:00 start time will make that a little better ... but still interferes with football. The Saturday games are the worst ... my extended family get together for dinner on most Saturdays at my Mother's, and that will now be out the window. I had a conversation with Mr. Jenner and he stated that much of the league (Quebec based teams) has gone this way with Saturday and Sunday games, and they have had success with it. He suggested that it was a bigger issue in Quebec where many would stay home to watch the Saturday night Habs game ... so they wanted to stop competing with that. Plus ... they were after that family crowd who don't want to have the young kids out until 10:00 PM on any night. I would have rather that he consulted with the Season Ticket Holders though. It is pretty easy to send out an email asking for opinions (for and against) on this change, and see what kind of feedback they get. I don't think this is going to do anything to season ticket sales other than cause a noticeable decrease. You might see an increase at the box office for Saturday and Sunday games ... but you'll probably see a decrease for other games where many STH are no longer committed. This is a kick in the teeth to the STH. I have been behind this team since they were the Alpines, and only missing 2 years as a STH since then. This move was done without consideration for those that have stood by this team year after year ... the most loyal ... the life blood of the team. All in an effort to gain a few more fringe fans.

That last paragraph is bang on and sums up how I feel as well! Took the words right out of my mouth, very underhanded way of doing business without so much as a forum with your loyal fan base

The fan base will vote with their wallet. If the attendance goes up they will keep the new hours, if it goes down they will adjust the hours back to where they were. At the end of the day this will just be a one year experiment. No big deal either way.

As a Sea Dogs fan, I really hope this doesn't prove to be successful. Because if it does, I could see the Sea Dogs trying to copy the idea which I would hate!

At the end of the day this will just be a one year experiment. No big deal either way. I agree ... and I decided to give it a year and try it out. If I hate it as I expect to then i'll wait to see next year's schedule and make a decision. Whether I hate it or not will also depend on how good the team is. If we have an exciting team to watch, then I will probably like it in spite of the schedule. As the team strength dwindles, i'll probably also slip away. While we have one of the most exciting players in our history, for probably 2 more seasons, it is tough to just walk away. I know many are saying they aren't walking away but rather just not being a STH. I'd rather go to games and sit around the people I usually sit around than sit in a different area each night ... and have to go to the box office to buy tickets. So ... one more year and then we'll see.

No way I'm walking away with him still around and missing out on what he brings to the table on a nightly (or should I say afternoon) basis. That said if the team isn't very good, which is a possibility, then I can see myself really hating all the afternoon games. I'll never like the Sunday afternoon games, but I'm willing to give the Saturday afternoon games a chance. I haven't minded the rare occasion we've had one in the past. Time will tell.

I don't see the big uproar....... i'd probably prefer more afternoon games personally... especially as a potential visitor to your rink with my family..... far prefer to attend an afternoon game then get on the road and back home in time for comfortable sleep in my own bed

He already proved he could tear up the league, this year they'll ask him to improve his defensive game and maybe kill penalties, at some point if you think he's a prospect you have to let him play in the pros against men. I'm sure their plan is 1 more year in the Q then have him jump to AHL.

So...attendance was down from last season. Not by a whole lot, but still down nonetheless.
From what I've heard there will be less afternoon games next season. You'll possibly see a mix of 4 pm and 7 pm starts for Saturday games. I actually didn't mind the Saturday afternoon games all that much and it worked out great when there was something else you wanted to do in the evening. That said I'd like the idea of a mix of afternoon and evening on Saturday so I hope they go that route.
As for the Sundays...I hope there are considerably less next season. There were 11 this season, which is ridiculous, and for the most part they were not all that well attended. Deciding to have a bunch of Sunday afternoon games and then having almost all of them during football season was certainly not a very wise decision. Hopefully they smarten up for next season.

Like you the Saturday aft games didn't bother me as much as I thought it may. I did get to do other things that came along on Saturday evenings that may not have been possible. Having said that if there is more of a mix between afternoon/ evening Sat games probably with affect me that much as trying to decide if continuing as a STH or just get a flex package and give up the seats I now have, and am not signing up for that 2 yr package recently introduced.

I think they go back to 7pm Saturdays next year, attendance wasn't that great from what I recall. I'd like to see the actual numbers...14-15 vs 15-16.
