With Garland back it will be interesting to see what the lines are going to look like. There's actually quite a bit of depth right now when you at the group of forwards here.
I think Garland/Askew will be a pair for most of the season, but it will be interesting to see who they end up playing with long term. According to the T&T they'll be playing with Wiederer to start. There's pros and cons to that. On the plus side he's a good skater and is responsible defensively. On the downside I haven't seen much finish from him so far. Looks to be more of a playmaker and you really want a finisher playing with Garland. That's where I think Leger might be a better fit, but there's negatives to that as well. Do you really want Askew, Garland and Leger all on the ice at the same time? At some point I wouldn't mind trying Garland/Johnson/Leger as a line that gives you a little bit of everything. But then who does Askew play with?
You simply can't split up Murphy and the Klimas right now and I really like the Smith/Johnson/Bower combo as your "third line". The latter can be tinkered with as there are some other forwards who can fit on to that line. MacEwen should be sent back to the MHL because you need at least one of Crossman or Corson in there every night.
So what would you do for lines?
Garland-Askew-Wiederer
Klima-Klima-Murphy
Smith-Johnson-Bower
Cormier-Leger-Crossman
Corson
No matter what combination you come up with there's going to be a pretty good player on that fourth line. I'm sure that Klimas/Murphy line will cool down at some point and you might tinker with that, but when healthy there's not much reason this team can't play all four lines regularly.
