Heard from a pretty good source at the game last night that Cavan Fitzgerald is coming to the Eagles at the trade period. Don't know who or what is going the other way. Also heard that Dman Simon bourque of Rimouski is headed this way as well.If that is the case and Beaudoin is going to the oceanic in the Joly deal, that will leave us with 8 Dman. Will Dumont go with 8 or dump someone else and carry 7?Any thoughts. I also heard a rumour dubois is heading to rimouski at the draft. for what? Joly is good but Joly doesn't get you Dubois one-for-one, let alone CB having to add. Makes 0 sense. Beaudon going back for one of the picks makes a lot more sense.

I've heard there's a young non-roster player headed to Rimouski as well. Not sure if it's a part of a the Joly deal or something else

Highly doubt it was to the Eagles but interesting news none the less.
Per "Kevin Chambers-@sn_Canucklehead:I have been told from a strong source that Nicolas Meloche has been dealt"

As fun as speculation is, I can't wait until next Saturday when hopefully some deals will be done, we'll have something concrete to talk about and some of the wild speculation will die down. It's the first year in a while the Mooseheads have been clear sellers... right now I cringe every time Cavan Fitzgerald or Cody Donaghey take a hit or fall into the boards, especially after what happened to Donaghey last season.

I would say it would be bourque for beudin and picks then returned at draft for Dubois with higher picks going back to cb

Food for thought for the trading period.Dumont has already thrown down the gauntlet by adding Joly, with his contract expiring at years end, its all or nothing now.If he stands pat, probably a quick exit, if he tinkers, still maybe a quick exit,if he has a long playoff run, he just might earn himself another contract. This organization has been starving for success for years, the time is now.Since Dubois name has been rumoured to be on the table,Dumont needs to decide when he wants the return on Dubois, now or later. I would suggest now. If Dubois is on the table to be moved at the draft for assets now, I'm betting that would raise the eyebrows and peek the interest of more than half the teams in the league. Should be an interesting trade period.

Hopefully for hockey fans here the all or nothing by Dumont doesn't leave them with nothing.

I'm 99% sure Beaudin is already involved as thats what has been in the Quebec papers about the Joly trade. If Bourque comes here then all bets are off as to what the final deal is.

Just reading the comments here and I laugh when some people cry over the years when the Eagles struggle and then when they finally have the pieces in place to contend they cry about giving up assets!!That 's he way junior hockey is ...you tank for a couple years to rebuild then go all in and that usually involves trading youth to bring in quality older players! It would be hard to see Dubois in another uniform next year but this team isn't gonna be all that good the next couple years so the fans want to see a good playoff run and this is the year to do it!They are going all in so enjoy the ride!

The fans are right in that a team built with so many bottom 5 finishes that buying should leave the team with nothing at its peak is not a cycle that's sustainable long term. This team had no playoff success prior to this for fans to start to see the pay off. It's being done as a complete 1 and done and leaving the fans with nothing in terms of a decent caliber team over the next 3 seasons. A 10 year period sprinkled with only 1 or 2 decent seasons and numerous bottom 5 finishes is something teams in small markets need to avoid. Fans have no choice but to 'get behind' the team when it buys and no choice but to pay for shit the next few years when everyone leaves. Using the logic of 'hockey people' fans are supposed to be sheep not expecting to see a reward for their investment with teams like this. Put a championship banner in the rafters and i'll be the 1st to say you're right...but predicting disaster is ahead when history says that's probably accurate is perfectly normal when you know in your gut that something isn't right with the situation. Nobody takes joy in being right in those situations. But repeating bad history isn't a very good way of avoiding past failure.

this is the year to go all in. The eagles have the two best Euros they have ever had at the same time, one of the top 20's in the league,an experienced defence,a goaltender who is playing well and one of the best 17's in the league. if Dubois is on the table, I think that creates a whole new scenario as far as trades is concerned, a lot of teams would be chomping at the bit to have him on their team and he would command assets that the Eagles could have for another year or two. There are a lot of teams that would offer up 2 or 3 assets for him,or hold onto him until next year and get lots when you're rebuilding. Either way and depending on the offers, he is an attractive piece to have. That's the cycle of junior hockey, take it for what it is.
