From what I have seen of Dumont, I don't expect him to fall in a rebuilding mode if indeed Dubois is back. He would rather pick up his chips and try to improve the team.

He comes back and they get a boatload for him at Christmas. Realistically, the rebuild does not look too bad in terms of draft picks with the exception of the 1st rounder to Rimouski ( but lets be honest, the BPA would not report here anyways). Not sure what the plan is but Dumont does seem to understand junior hockey cycles at least unlike some people we had here in the past so I'm confident they will sell at the deadline. BPA's have reported here before. Dubois was a BPA. Little doubt about that now. With that attitude it's easy to justify trading 1st rounders for veterans. I don't think the situation here is near as black and white as being honest that the best talent wouldn't report anyway when, well, we're waiting on one of those top talents to be sent back to us. We're certainly in a rebuilding mode and will go back to hoarding assets which looked absolutely great the first time we did it until we couldn't turn those assets into a great team but rather a collection of great individuals. It would be hard to top how things looked after the Roy trade in terms of assets and what we turned the picks into. Our fans have seen the pick collecting. They now need to see the final step of a team being assembled using those top assets and that will always fall on the coach. That's the biggest issue for me right now as well. They have proved they understand and can accumulate the picks for a cycle but they have not run deep enough for a go for it year last year. Only time will tell on that front. Secondly, the only way first rounders should be traded for veterans is in go for it years but my attitude is not changing with BPA. If this team does sell off the veteran talent and hypothetically finishes bottom 3 in the league like many expect I doubt that projected #1 or # 2 will report here as shown in recent history. First round kids will report here like a Dubois or a Hoyt but far too often we have saw guys like Roy and Bowers not. I understand what you mean though and I do agree that the return on Roy was steller but how the Bowers pick was handled left a sour taste in my mouth that has yet to subside. I prefer BPA that will actually report here and to stop playing hardball with the picks.

I've said this before and say it again. This team needs to get back to drafting and trading for players that want to be an Eagle. Not only do Quebec kids not want to show but kids in our own Provence won't show. I'd take a kid with character and heart that love playing for the crest over a kid with tons of talent that we have to fight for just to show. Morgan Ellis type guys who got emotional leaving a last place team (CB) for Shawinigan who hosted the Mem Cup that season.
If there is any issues getting anyone or any pick to show in the Dubois trade I will lose my mind. Dumont needs to 1. do his homework along with his scouting staff and figure out the character issues with these players and find out if they want to be here, if not see ya. 2. Dumont put the ego aside and take guys committed to your system/program and not kids who won't show anyway. It cost us last year, it better not cost us again over the course of this rebuild.

The thing with that is it is just a rumour. I like coffee shop gossip as much as the next guy but this is all that really amounts to... coffee shop gossip.

Dubois should be back tomorrow...

Correct. But when they take Dubois off the books - which they will on Wednesday - more space is created, and Wennberg eats only a little.

He didn't really, its due to salary cap reasons, he's coming back and Wennberg will be brought up to the blue jackets.
